Worthy Hazard replacement? £88 million Pulisic reveals January talks as Chelsea look for deal
Chelsea are lining up a big move for Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic, but would he be a worthy replacement for Eden Hazard?
Hazard has been heavily tipped to pack his bags and sign for Real Madrid after the current season finishes, with reports suggesting he wants a fresh challenge and a better chance to win the Champions League and Ballon D’or.
The Belgian has even admitted a move to Madrid ‘interest’s him’ as he waits for an official offer to arrive from Madrid for his services.
And recent reports have claimed the Blues are eying possible replacements for the Belgian, with the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Gareth Bale and Nabil Fekir all linked with a possible move. But there is also reports which have claimed he will look to Dortmund sensation Pulisic, as his immediate replacement, with the 19-year Old American tipped to become a global superstar.
Pulisic has now announced he will consider his future when the January transfer window open up in the next few weeks.
“I’m still focused on Dortmund. We are doing great this season,” Pulisic told NBC Sports.
“Once the break comes [in January], that is always when I will have to discuss with Dortmund and see about my future.”
It has been claimed Chelsea will offer cash-plus Alvaro Morata in a bid to land the American if Hazard does in fact leave, as the Spanish striker has not fulfilled the potential many expected despite his recent run of form in the side.
But what will he bring to the Chelsea side?
Pulisic gets into extremely dangerous positions in the box and has a knack for the killer pass, and he is used to playing a high-tempo, fast-paced and attacking football that current Blues boss Maurizio Sarri employs, and which made him an attractive prospect to Roman Abramovic.
But it is not just his creativity, raw pace and drive to take players on that is one of his main featured, as his decision making in the final third and his ability to score goals is also an attractive proposition for Chelsea.
If they lose Hazard, they will also lose their creativity and 20-plus goals a season, meaning they will need to help fill that void if they are to push on from this season and possibly challenge for more than just a Premier league title.
And although Pulisic doesn’t produce those kind of numbers just yet, he is only 19-years of age and has plenty of time to up his goals ratio.
Losing a player like Hazard will be a massive blow, as he will be very hard to replace, but signing a quality player like Pulisic will certainly help fill the void that could be left by the Belgian when he decides to leave the club.
