PSG officially tell chasing Chelsea midfielder Rabiot ‘has asked to leave the club’ and ‘will not sign a new contract’

Adrien Rabiot, the reported Chelsea target won’t be signing a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain, the French club have announced.

Rabiot is one of the most gifted and talented players at PSG, but has been unable to agree new terms that will keep him at the club for the foreseeable future, with reports in the media claiming he is demanding far more than what PSG are prepared to offer.

His contract situation has led to speculation that he will leave the club in the coming transfer windows, with Chelsea just one of a number of top clubs that are reportedly keen on trying to nail down his signature.

And now they have been alerted to the news that he will be leaving the club after PSG sporting director Antero Henrique confirmed that Rabiot will not be staying beyond this season.

He told Yahoo France: “At this point, no. It was a decision made by the club following a meeting I had with the player.

“The player informed me that he would not sign a contract and that he wanted to leave the club by being free at the end of the season, i.e. at the end of his contract. For the player, this will have a very clear consequence: he will remain on the bench for an indefinite period.”

Could Rabiot be a decent signing for Chelsea?

Rabiot has bags of potential and the right kind of quality to make the move to Chelsea and be the perfect replacement for Cesc Fabregas, who is destined to leave the club.

His passing game is top notch, he has the ability to pick a pass and also has the quality to play the game at his own pace, and PSG will be losing a very exiting talent.

So if Chelsea can get a deal done, he will be worth every penny.
