“Every player has his price” as Lamps seek to wrap up summer business with deal for £70 million midfielder
West Ham have been told that every player has their price, with Chelsea keen to wrap up a deal for Declan Rice
With Frank Lampard looking to build a side that is more than capable of challenging for that Premier League title next season, Roman Abramovic has backed the club legend financially in the players that he wants to bring to the club.
Rice has become one of the best holding midfielders in the top-flight, and his performances have meant that he is now a full England International, and is valued at around the £70 million mark.
He is the one player that Lampard reportedly wants at Chelsea, but has so far been unable to get signed up this transfer window as the Hammers do not want to see their best players leave the club this transfer window.
But football Pundit Danny Mills has opened up and told fans that every player has their price, he told the TalkSport website: “I don’t think the ramifications of selling Rice are too great for West Ham when you think of what Liverpool did with selling Philippe Coutinho.
“He was their play-maker but they invested that money wisely. Declan Rice is a fantastic player and there’s a lot of potential there but is he going to catapult you five places up the table on his own? No, he wouldn’t.
“Every player has his price and he’s a defensive midfielder or a centre-half. He’s not in the echelons of Virgil van Dijk or an N’Golo Kante. If you have to sell and raises up to £70m to bringing in three or four quality players then you have to do that. It’s how football works nowadays.”
He is far too good to be fighting relegation this season and if he wants to become a big player in the game, then he needs to play for the biggest clubs, and Chelsea are certainly that.
So if the right offer arrives, the Hammers will surely be unable to turn down that amount of money?
