Lampard told midfielder ‘is Rolls Royce’ of a player ahead of potential Chelsea switch
Adrian Durham has described West Ham midfielder Declan Rice as a ‘Rolls Royce’ with Chelsea linked with a move.
Since moving into that midfield just a few seasons ago, Rice has gone on to become one of the most talked about players in the premier League and is constantly being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, where Frank Lampard is a massive fan of the player.
Not only does the Englishman cover every blade of grass and recover possession, his fabulous technique and incredible range of passing is beginning to flourish in a West Ham team which has defied expectation this season.
But it’s his football brain which impresses Durham, who has claimed that the England defender reads the game better than Liverpool star Fabinho, He told Drive on Tuesday: “When you say workmanlike… Rolls Royces aren’t workmanlike!
“He’s not going to get you 20/25 goals a season, but there’s a way he plays which is silky and gorgeous.
“What he does, in a way people don’t really notice because he doesn’t throw himself into tackles head first, is disrupt the play because he knows what’s going to happen before anybody else.
“I would say his reading of the game is better than Fabinho’s – and he’s one of the best in the Premier League.”
Look, there is no question about the quality of Rice and there is no doubt that he will become a top-class player, but there is a question as to the price that has been placed on his head as he is not worth that massive £80 million that the Hammers want.
But he is certainly a player that would add some quality to this Chelsea midfield, if they ever sign the man
