Rice opens up and officially tells Chelsea winning trophies is “important” to him ahead of possible move
Long-term Chelsea target Declan Rice admits winning trophies is “important” to him.
It is no secret that Rice is one of the most in-demand players in the Premier League and is being chased by all the Leagues biggest clubs after a stunning couple of seasons has turned him into a top-class holding midfielder.
Chelsea are currently leading the chase to get a transfer deal done for the Englishman in the coming windows, although that massive £80 million asking price that the Hammers have placed on the head of Rice will be a stumbling block for a deal to be completed.
But West Ham’s star man, 21, gave another hint over his thinking when he told the Sky Sports website: “As a footballer you only get one career and it goes by very quick.”
“You want to be successful for club and country. I think it’s an important thing to win trophies.
“There’s talk of Harry Kane at Spurs and what he should be doing, obviously he can do whatever he wants.
“He’s going to win trophies we all know that. I think that’s something I want to aim for as well.
“I’m only 21 but to get those highs of your career you need to win stuff and that’s what I want to do.”
We have said it on many occasions that Rice is far too good to be playing at a club like the Hammers, he will not be winning any trophies anytime soon as the club are just a mid-table side.
If he moved to Chelsea, it could be the best time to make that move as they are looking like a side that has the ability to win trophies on a yearly basis, Frank Lampard really has an exciting team on his books.
What player would not want to join that?
