‘Prove your better than Hudson-Odoi and Mount’ big Chelsea message sent to new £58 million signing Pulisic

Former Arsenal star Stuart Robson has told Christian Pulisic he needs to prove himself at Chelsea under Frank Lampard.

There has been a lot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few days which has suggested that Pulisic may seek a loan move away from the club during the January transfer window if his game time does not improve under the guidance of Lampard.

The 21-year-old has struggled to nail down a place at Chelsea, despite being tipped to be the ideal Eden Hazard replacement, and has already vented his frustrations at being dropped from the Chelsea starting line-up over the past few weeks.

The USA winger has not started a Premier League game since August and the return to fitness of Callum Hudson-Odoi and the continued great performances of Mason Mount has made his chances of selection more difficult.

Robson says Pulisic must show in training he is as good as or better than Hudson-Odoi or Mount, telling the ESPN website: “Every day he goes into training, he’s got to be better than those two.

“When those two players, Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount, have worked hard on the Saturday and they’ve played a full game and then they come in on Monday and they can’t quite work at full pace, that’s when Pulisic has got to take the opportunity.

“He’s got to play better than them in training, he’s got to run harder, he’s got to go past people with the ball, he’s got to make things happen and then have a little look over to Frank Lampard and say ‘I’m ready’.

“He’s got to do that week in, week out, day in, day out to prove he’s as good if not better than those players we are talking about.

“He’s a young player, yes, but he’s got to prove that he’s better than those two players that Frank Lampard at the moment is preferring.”

Look at the end of the day Lampard has to pick the side that he feels best suits his style of play right now, and although Pulisic is a very gifted young man, he is still adapting to the English game whereas many of his rivals are already adjusted to the Premier League.

He needs to be patient, he needs to work hard and he needs TO EARN HIS PLACE in the side, it cannot be handed to him just because he was such a superstar over in the Bundesliga.

He will get his chance in the side, and just like the weekend, he needs to prove that he is worth the hassle.
