Deal announced! Chelsea fans see shock £36 million Paredes move get wrapped up
PSG have announced the signing of Chelsea target Leandro Paredes from Zenit St Petersburg.
Paredes has been in the headlines over the past few months as reports suggested that he could make a move to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth around £35 million, with some reports evebn suggesting that the Blues had a deal agreed in principal, as Maurizio Sarri looked for a replacement for Cesc Fabregas.
However, PSG swoop in at the very last minute and offered Paredes an offer that he couldnt turn down, and he has now announced his delight after signing a four-and-a-half year deal with the French Champions.
The 24-year-old said on the Sky Sports website: “I’m very proud to be joining Paris Saint-Germain.
“After my previous experiences in Italy and Russia, I now have this fantastic opportunity, not only to discover a new league, but above all one to wear one the most prestigious club jerseys in the world.”
The news will now mean that Chelsea will try and push through a deal for their top target Nicolo Bareall, who is making great headlines over in Seria A with Cagliari and is reportedly open to the idea of making that big switch to the Premier League.
Was it a bad idea to turn down Chelsea?
PSG have some of the biggest and most esciting attackers in world football and it was very easy to see just why Paredes made his decision, but the French League is not much better than the Russian division and making that move will not further his career.
The Premier League is the best in world football and if he did sign for Chelsea, he could have developed into one of the best midfielders in Europe.
It is Paredes loss and not Chelsea’s that he decided to sign for PSG.
