Chelsea need to wrap up world class deal after De Laurentiis sets £81 million asking price
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has admitted Chelsea transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly may be sold –and the Blues should try to complete a deal.
Chelsea have been in the headlines alot over the past few months as they seek to build a side that is capable of challenging for all the major trophies next season, and adding a new defender is on the agenda for Frank Lampard.
Despite all the attacking flair that Chelsea have , and will have, they have one of the worst defences in the premier League and will need to address that with a world class signing in the coming weeks, with Koulibaly on the list.
Regarded as one of the finest defenders in the game right now, Koulibaly has been heavily linked with some of the biggest clubs for months, with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool all linked with a possible deal.
Now it seems that the Italians are ready to cash in on the powerhouse after De Laurentiis has admitted Koulibaly may be sold – but only for £81million.
De Laurentiis told Sky Italia: “Kalidou is a wonderful person and of course it’d be sad to lose him.
“Everything has a time and a place, even when it comes to going our separate ways.
“‘Having said that, we don’t have €90m (£81m) on the table and in any case, it takes two to separate.”
Look, there is no doubt that Chelsea need to add a world class defender to that back-line and rather than spending £75 million on the likes of Ben Chilwell, they should definitely spend £81 million on Koulibaly.
He is just the type of player that will develop this Chelsea defence and make them more solid ahead of a Premier League and Champions League title push next season.’
The FA CUp loss to Arsenal proved that they need to improve the defence and he would certainly do that.
