Brilliant new Chelsea signing announces ‘I’m very happy and very excited’ after completing move

Joao Felix has announced just how excited he is to have completed his move to Chelsea until the end of the season

The Portuguese attacker has only netted 34 goals in his 130 appearances for Atletico since making a £112m move from Benfica in 2019, struggling to live up to his massive price tag and hype.

Chelsea have agreed to pay a massive loan fee worth around £10million to sign the Portuguese forward on loan until the end of the season, in addition to covering his wages in full – which amounts to another £5m.

And despite it only appearing to be a short stay, Felix spoke of his delight to have arrived at Chelsea in his first interview on Wednesday.

‘I’m very, very happy to be here in Chelsea,’ he said in a video on the club’s website. ‘It’s one of the great teams in the world and I hope to help the team reach the objectives.

‘So I’m very happy and very excited to play here and to play in Stamford Bridge.’

‘Chelsea players that I remember, I can say Portuguese players: Deco, Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira, [Raul] Meireles.

‘But there are other players that are not Portuguese that I like too, like [Eden] Hazard, Frank Lampard, [Didier] Drogba.’

He continued: ‘So I don’t know a lot of London but I know it’s a big city, it’s a wonderful city. But now I’m focused on helping the team.

‘I met one time Reece James when I was in London in a restaurant. Amazing guy.’

Joao Felix is a great talent right? He is a player that has all the ability to be a big star in the game – but at the end of the day – the Premier League is not the right place for the man.

If he struggled in La Liga – he would struggle in the more physical based Premier League – this is a massive risk.

Chelsea need goals and we are sure not sure that Joao Felix is the man that will provide that.

However – if they manage to get the very best out of the player – then he will be a great signing for the club – it is just asking alot from the young star
