£150k-a-week star gets message about completing £106M move to Chelsea
Reporter Iomie Stanley have warned Enzo Fernandez that joining CHELSEA would be the ‘wrong move’ for his career, according to reports.
Fernandez has become the talk of the transfer window as there has constantly been rumours that Chelsea are close to agreeing a mammoth £106 million deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
But Chelsea are now said to be reluctant on doing business for a nine-figure sum and are instead looking to negotiate alternative terms for the 21-year-old – as they believe that price is far too high.
Whatever the case – According to recent reports on The Times, Benfica are unhappy that Chelsea’s latest offer is less than the amount discussed during talks last month.
The report also claims that Benfica’s president, Rui Costa, has held talks with Fernandez and has warned the midfielder against joining Chelsea this month and has said that ‘more prestigious and better organised’ teams will make their move in the summer.
Now – amid the speculation – Stanley has warned the player about a move to London: “Enzo is a good guy and an extraordinary player, Benfica want him to stay, the situation is not easy, he played in the World Cup, won the World Cup, had proposals, there is a lot of money at stake.
“He is a young man and if an excellent person, according to his team-mates. Benfica are adamant that he should stay put.
“CHELSEA wants him, they tried to attract him, but they know that they can only have him if they pay the clause. But is there even space in that side for him?
“The Blues have spent some serious money in order to add some players to the side – so Fernandez must know that he will not walk straight into that staring eleven.
‘Right now he is playing to-level football on a weekly basis – maybe he should not go where the money until he is ready.’
