Chelsea Sunday! Pulisic to sign, Willian-Richarlison message, Sarri told to sign striker, stunning Icardi news
Here is a roundup of todays Chelsea news, gossip and transfer rumours.
Chelsea are reportedly “on the verge” of securing a deal for Borussia Dortmund star and Liverpool target Christian Pulisic.
The attacking midfielder has suggested he could be a Premier League player very soon, saying it’s “a league where lots of kids dream of playing so there is no reason why maybe one day I won’t play here.” As Liverpool have long been admirers of the 20-year-old.
But with rumours still circling which suggest Eden Hazard is on his way out of the club at the end of the season, the Daily Mail now claim that it is Chelsea who are closing in on a deal for the talented £88 million rated star.
The reports claim Pulisic has been refusing to engage in contract talks, which has prompted Borussia Dortmund’s decision to sell the 20-year-old rather than lose him for nothing in 2020.
It is reported that Chelsea will push for the deal to be done in January, especially as it has been claimed they could be facing a transfer ban after an investigation into their signing of foreign Under-18 players.
And it is believed the Blues are also ready to meet his wage demands at Dortmund, which are believed to be the in £100,000-a-week range, as well as pay the £88 million the Germans are after. (Click to read more)
Chelsea target Richarlison’s had a cracking start to the season at Everton and that’s not gone unnoticed by his Brazil team-mate Willian.
Richarlison made the shock decision in the summer to sign for Everton in a deal worth £40 million after a very impressive season at Watford last year, despite the reported interest from Chelsea.
The Blues were keen to add a fresh, young and hungry winger to the squad as a long-term replacement for Pedro and were eyeing up a deal for Richarlison, but backed off because of the high valuation on the players head.
But with the January transfer window fast approaching and rumours beginning to circle once again, Willian can see why his Chelsea side were interested in the winger.
He said on the Sky Sports website: “Richarlison is doing very well with Everton. He is one of the greatest surprises of the Premier League at the beginning of the season.
“Scoring goals, being a key player for his club. And in his first call up with Seleção he scored twice and did a great job.
“He has a lot of quality, knows how to score goals and has a lot of potential to help the Seleção.” (Click to read more)
Reports have claimed Manchester United are looking to sign up Chelsea target Declan Rice from West Ham this January.
Rice spent seven years in Chelsea’s academy but joined West Ham at the age of 14 after he was released by the Blues, and has already become a firm member of the first team having made such an impact at the Hammers this season.
But he could be all set for a move away from the club after reports emerged which claimed he had rejected the latest contract offer from the Hammers, which is believed to be around the £23,000-a-week mark, as he reportedly wants a new contract which is around the £40,000-a-week.
Reports suggested Chelsea are ready to swoop in this coming January and offer him the kind of deal he is looking for, as Maurizio Sarri is reportedly keen to bolsters certain areas of the pitch knowing he has a long season ahead with the Blues challenging for a top four spot, Europa League title and a Premier League crown.
However, the Metro website has now claimed Mourinho has been hugely impressed by Rice’s performances over the past few months and is attracted to how versatile he is, and is now ready to beat Chelsea to a possible deal and take him to Old Trafford. (Click to read full article)
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said Maurizio Sarri will need to sign another striker to for Chelsea in the coming transfer windows.
The Blues are yet to lose this season and have taken 28 points from their first 12 league fixtures to sit third in the Premier League, as Sarri looks to bring immediate success back to the club after such a disappointing Campaign last year.
However, there has been many in the media which have claimed that Chelsea are one striker and one defender away from being serious title contenders, as many have not been impressed with the poor showings of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.
And former Chelsea hero Hasselbaink says his former club need to buy another striker to close the gap on defending champions Manchester City.
‘I think every club that is going to challenge for the Premier League needs three strikers,’ he told Sky Sports.
‘For me they [Chelsea] still have a gap to close on Man City, but they are improving and if they can keep on improving they can hopefully catch them. ‘[Sarri] has changed the way they play totally.
‘They now play more in the defensive third of the opposition. They have the ball 60 or 70 per cent of the time – that was totally different last year.
‘You see smiles on the players’ faces again and they’re playing attractive, attacking football.’ (Click to read full article)
Chelsea and Manchester United could be signing Mauro Icardi soon, with Inter Milan reportedly facing financial woes.
Icardi is one of the best strikers in world football and netted an impressive 29-goals for the Italians in Seria A last season, as he elevated his status to one of the most deadly forwards in Italy.
His performances for Milan have caught the attentions of both Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri and United coach Jose Mourinho over the last few months, as both have struggling forwards in the squad and both are keen to spend big in the coming transfer windows to try and challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.
However, it seemed that they were all set to miss out on Icardi after the striker admitted he is happy and the Italians admitted that they di not want to sell their biggest asset.
But the San Siro club are, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, in line to receive sanctions from UEFA for breaching Financial Fair Regulations.
And the governing body are said to have informed Inter they need to balance their books and raise €50million (£44million) by June or risk facing sanctions, meaning they may have to offload Icardi on the cheap.
Icardi currently has a release clause of around £90million in his current contract, and already has netted seven times in Serie A this season, while also chipping in with two assists. (Click to read full article)
