‘Informal agreement’ is in place with Chelsea target Tagliafico about future transfer move
Chelsea transfer target Nicolas Tagliafico is set to sign a new Ajax deal but can still leave next summer, according to reports.
It was no secret in the media that Frank Lampard was seeking to add another left-back to his squad over the summer transfer window and had been keeping a very close eye on Tagliafico, who has established himself in Europe.
However, despite all the rumours and speculation that Chelsea were very keen to nail down Tagliafico, Chelsea opted to splash the cash and bring the impressive Ben Chilwell to the club in a deal worth around £50 million.
However, there is a feeling that Chelsea still need to add to this squad in the coming windows, and add another left-back to the squad, meaning that Tagliafico will still be on the shopping list when the transfer window opens up at the end of the season.
And according to De Telegraaf, the 28-year-old could still be up for grabs at the end of the season despite the new contract with the Dutch champions in the offing
The Argentina international is said to have agreed a new deal in principle with Ajax. His agent Ricardo Schlieper has confirmed the club reached an agreement with the player on Thursday afternoon.
However, an ‘informal agreement’ is in place which would allow Tagliafico to leave to ‘pursue his dream of playing in a top competition’ once this season has finished, and the right amount of money is offered to Ajax.
Tagliafico signing a new deal at the club is just so Ajax get good money in the transfer market, as they do not believe that the left-back will stay until the end of 2023, he is a wanted man.
There is no harm in Chelsea making a transfer move for the player as they will need to add some depth to the squad, so for the right amount of money, yes he would add to the depth of the squad.
And he has already proven that he is able to play against the very best of Europe, so he should have no problem adjusting to the Premier League.
