Ancelotti opens on £130 million Koulibaly joining Chelsea in summer window
Carlo Ancelotti has said Chelsea transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly “absolutely” will not leave Napoli this summer transfer window.
Koulibaly is regarded as one of the finest central defenders in world football and his performances for Napoli have caught the attentions of a number of Premier League sides, including Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, who is keen to bolster his back-line in the summer.
Chelsea may have a world class attack, but they have been heavily criticised for their performances at the back and it was widely expected that Sarri would delve into his transfer kitty and try to secure a deal for Koulibaly, despite the fact Napoli wanted over £100 million for his services.
But it seems that a deal will not be on the cards anyways, as Ancelotti has now admitted that Koulibaly will not be leaving the club during the summer transfer window.
He said in quotes carried by the Manchester Evening News: “I have a team that is already well structured and with margins for growth, even if young. In pivotal roles we are in place, the backbone is robust: two valuable goalkeepers, a reliable defence with a phenomenon like Koulibaly, the well-structured midfield with Allan, Zielinski and Fabian.
“Destined to grow, with targeted investments made in harmony with the club. The big names will all remain. Napoli is not forced to sell and make capital gains. Also, Koulibaly? Absolutely, from here it does not move.”
Here is what we think on Koulibaly
Koulibaly is a world class defender that would have improved the Chelsea side immensely, so the news that he will not be leaving the club at the end of the season will come as a big blow to Chelsea and a number of other clubs.
But money talks and although Ancelotti wats to keep the powerhouse, the right offer will actually get a deal done and dusted.
