£40M powerhouse announces talks as Chelsea seek to wrap up early summer deal

Nice defender and Chelsea target Jean-Clair Todibo has confirmed he has held “a little discussion” over his future.

The transfer window is just a few days away and this will give the club the chance to get the backing of the board once again and add some fresh players to the squad.

It is no secret that Thiago Silva has now left CHELSEA FC after the decision was made for him to head back to his homeland for the final few years of his career – meaning the Blues have been looking for an immediate replacement for the Brazilian.

And that has led scouts to keep an eye on the performances of Tobibo – who has been attracting alot of Premier League interest over the past few seasons.

Tottenham have already held talks with Nice over the France defender in January, who has shone in Ligue 1 since leaving Barcelona in 2021, but Spurs opted to sign Genoa’s Radu Dragusin instead.

Manchester United and Liverpool are among the other clubs linked with Todibo, while football.london have reported that the Chelsea have now held talks over a possible deal for the defender.

It is believed a fee of £40-50 million should be enough to get a deal done for the powerhouse.

odibo helped lead Nice to second in the Ligue 1 table and while he did insist he respected the club too much to openly talk about his future, he revealed discussions behind the scenes.

He told The Daily Telegraph: “Honestly I don’t want to talk about [my future] because of my respect for the fans here and the club also, but we had a little discussion, for sure.”

Before adding: “My ambition is to play in the best competitions in the world and try to be the best version of me.

“Try to be the best defender, for sure, that I can be.”
