Ted Boehly and Chelsea have been told to get deal for £350,000-a-week star done

Frank McAvennie has urged Chelsea to “get rid” of flop striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this January

Chelsea were desperate to add to their attack in the summer transfer window and were linked with so many players  – some big ones too – as former boss Thomas Tuchel wanted to be backed in the market.

But despite all the world class players that were heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge – Aubameyang was the name that arrived at the club.

However – Aubameyang has endured a miserable spell at Stamford Bridge following a deadline-day move from Barca last summer, The striker has made nine Premier League appearances for Potter’s side and has scored one goal during those outings.

McAvennie hasn’t been impressed with what he’s seen from Aubameyang and has encouraged the Blues to get rid of the Gabon striker: “They have got to get rid of him,” he told Football Insider.

“I thought he was awful. I thought his body language, his movement was poor, I could have moved more than that.

“He is getting so much money. He came back for Tuchel and it has not worked. Aubameyang is getting an absolute fortune, it is ridiculous.“

It was a massive mistake from Chelsea to make a move for Auba and bring him back to the Premier League – he has been a massive flop.

There are strikers out there right now that Chelsea could pay £350k-a-week too that would score the goals that Graham Potter needs.

The best thing that the Blues can do is allow him to leave and then buy a better forward – because him sitting on the bench every week is just costing the club money.

It is strange to see that halfway through the January window they have not sold him – but it would be a mistake to keep him for the rest of the season.
