WOW! Chelsea told £142m star Coutinho ‘not a Barcelona player’ and will be sold this coming summer
Reports have claimed Philippe Coutinho ‘is not a Barcelona player’ and will be sold during the summer window, with Chelsea interested.
Coutinho is regarded as one of the finest creators in Europe and was supposed to be the long-term successor to Andreas Iniesta at the Camp Nou, but he has failed to make the kind of impact this season that made him a Liverpool superstar in the Premier league.
And that has led to a lot of speculation that the £142 million rated midfielder could be sold at the end of the season, with some reports even suggesting that Barcelona are willing to cash in if the likes of Chelsea meet the £65 million valuation, a significant drop in the price of the Brazilian star.
Chelsea are on the look-out for an adequate replacement for Eden Hazard, as the Belgian will be heading to Real Madrid at the end of the season, meaning Maurizio Sarri will be losing his creative force in midfield.
However, there were reports in the media which revealed that Barcelona had no intention on Coutinho with President Josip Bartomeu even claiming that the Brazilian will be staying at the club.
“Coutinho is a great player, excellent, and he’s getting better and better,” he said. last Month
“It’s not easy to play at Barca, he was here for six months last season and he has the confidence of the coach, he’s a global player and we expect a lot from him.
“He will continue at Barca, it’s different and Barca needs different players.”
But now a source has told ESPN that Barcelona have changed their mind on keeping hold of Coutinho and are open to selling the Brazilian at the end of the season after Liverpool knocked them out the Champions League in such spectacular fashion.
“Coutinho is not a Barcelona player, that’s been made clear,” a club source told ESPN FC.
Hazard leaving Chelsea will be a massive blow to their chances of getting back to the very top of the game and challenging for the Champions League and Premier League title, but Coutinho could have been the man to help fill the void.
He brings goals, quality and creativity and has that special something that makes him one of the best midfielders in the game so Chelsea will be keeping a close eye as Barcelona could decide to keep hold as there are not many better alternatives out there.
But as we all know in football, anything can happen and if Chelsea get that transfer ban overturned and decide to make a move for Coutinho, offer the right fee, then Barcelona will sell as they also need funds to land their summer transfer targets.
