Boehly ‘will sign better striker’ after Chelsea told to get £350k-a-week transfer deal done

Chelsea have been told to get rid of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and replace him with a better forward

The 33-year-old thrived at Arsenal before his move to the Nou Camp at the start of 2022 but appears to be struggling to find his best form at Stamford Bridge.

Aubameyang joined Chelsea on last summer’s transfer deadline day and has scored three goals in 10 appearances since his £10m move from Barcelona – but he looks nothing like the player that shone at Barcelona..

Former Chelsea and Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino expects Aubameyang’s Stamford Bridge career to be short-lived and says Todd Boehly needs to look for a ‘better’ frontman.

‘I’m not even sure Aubameyang is a player Chelsea will be looking at next season,’ he told talkSPORT. ‘I think what will happen is what happened to him at Barcelona.

‘They brought him to the club, got a big signing, then realised quite quickly they need to move away to a better striker.

‘I think Chelsea will have to do that as a football club. They’ll come away from Aubameyang by the end of the season and they’ll look for an alternative without a doubt.’

Aubameyang was a signing that kept Tuchel happy – he was keen to sign a striker again in the summer window – but he is not a Graham Potter type player

The Blues will surely move on from the Gabon star – and they should – he is done in the Premier League and is happy just to collect his wages and wait for that next lucrative move

It was a big mistake to bring him back to the club and it will be a mistake to keep him in January or at the end of the season
