Chelsea urged ‘to give up on Werner’ and ‘buy a big, big striker who can score goals’

Chelsea have been told to give up on Timo Werner and go out and sign a striker in the transfer window.

Big things were expected from Werner following his £47.6million move from RB Leipzig having scored 34 goals for the German club last season, and many clubs tried to secure his services in the transfer window.

However, The 25-year-old has been a source of frustration to many Chelsea fans this season with just 12 in all competitions from 49 games, and he has not looked anything like the player that was so amazing last season.

Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Thomas Tuchel needs someone who can turn up in the big games: “I’ve tried to give him the benefit of the doubt as it’s his first season, but the more I’m seeing of him he’s making the wrong decision,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

“He picked the ball up, running at two defenders and takes a wild shot over the bar when it’s best to make a pass and another run.

“He seems a bit too erratic and Chelsea, with their history with the likes of Didier Drogba and the strikers they’ve had in the past, they need to go out and buy a big, big striker who can score goals and turn up in the big games.”

Werner is a very gifted player that should become one of the very best strikers in world football, so the fact that he has not been able to establish himself at Chelsa is a massive shock.

Chelsea should sign another striker and find a way to include Werner into the team, he is not good enough to be a 30-goal Premier League striker right now
