Chelsea told to sign marquee signing – £100M star told JOIN Chelsea – Blues encouraged to sign Midfielder
Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed today –
Chelsea have been told by former player Frank Lebouef they should sign Granit Xhaka this summer to complement Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in midfield.
Xhaka left the Emirates for Germany last year and enjoyed a superb season playing under Xabi Alonso, winning the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal and only losing one game in the process.
He has really become the heartbeat of that Bayer side and also the heartbeat of the Swiss National side – a far cry from the player that was so inconsistent at Arsenal during his 300 games for the club.
Now Leboeuf feels the 31-year-old would be the perfect addition to the Chelsea midfield: Frank Leboeuf told BoyleSports who offer the latest Premier League betting: I’m telling you the one who Chelsea should sign is Granit Xhaka. He’s so impressive and I think Chelsea should have signed him when he left Arsenal.
He was phenomenal for Switzerland at the EUROs and he was also the Player of the Season for Leverkusen – he suits Chelsea so well, particularly in midfield with Enzo and Caicedo. He could be the missing piece of the puzzle for them’

Since Xhaka left Arsenal – he has really stepped up his game and looks world class everytime that he steps onto that pitch – but even though he would be better than what the Blues currently have – he is too old for their future plan
The CHELSEA board like to sign players that will make money over the next few seasons – Xhaka will not do that – so even though he could be a great signing for Chelsea – this is a move that will not happen guys.
GREALISH TO JOIN?
Reporter Iomie Stanley has told Man City star Jack Grealish that he should consider joining Chelsea this summer
During his time with Aston Villa – Grealish has developed into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and a man that was tipped to play for one of the big clubs.
In the end it was Manchester City that swooped in – paid some serious money – and took him to the Etihad in hope that he could devlop into the player that showed so much promise
However – Grealish, has failed to lived up to the billing so far and Grealish’s name has been discussed by CHELSEA, according to recent reports as they seek to keep on bolstering their squad over the course of the transfer window.
The former Villa man was cut from Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024, and could potentially move away from Man City for more game time and to try and reclaim his place in the squad.
Stanley has outlined why he thinks Chelsea would be a good move: “What you’re looking at is, would you play Grealish as a winger or a number 10, or midfield player? He does a job on the wing, but wingers create, get round the back, and Jack can’t get round the back.
“He doesn’t give the ball away but he doesn’t take a lot of risks. I’d be looking to play him in that three in the middle of the park. I think he has to go to a side where they are looking to play him as a midfield player.
“CHELSEA could be an outside bet with Conor Gallagher possibly going, you could see him playing that midfield role. He’d be more effective there. He’s got vision, he can see things and he’s good at give and go.
“However – that £100 million asking price is a problem and Chelsea will not want to pay that amount of cash that is for sure.’
MARQUEE SIGNING NEEDED –
Chelseas summer transfer window has indeed been bustling with activity, with the club signing several talented players to bolster their squad. However, despite these acquisitions, the Blues still need to sign an elite player, a marquee signing that would send a clear statement of intent to their rivals in the Premier League and across Europe.
Reporter Iomie Stanley told icfootballnews: ‘First and foremost, an elite player can significantly enhance Chelsea’s competitive edge. While the new signings bring talent and potential, a proven world-class player adds an element of certainty and reliability. These players have often been tested at the highest levels and have consistently performed, bringing invaluable experience and a winning mentality to the squad. For Chelsea, whose aspirations are not just to compete but to dominate both domestically and in Europe, having such a player can be the difference between winning crucial matches and falling short.
For instance, when CHELSEA signed players like Eden Hazard and Didier Drogba, they didn’t just add to the squad; they transformed it. These players had a palpable impact on the pitch, influencing games with their individual brilliance and raising the overall standard of play. Similarly, a current elite player could provide the same transformative effect, helping Chelsea bridge the gap to the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool, who have consistently been at the top of the Premier League in recent seasons.
Moreover, signing an elite player can have a profound impact on the morale of both the team and the fans. The arrival of a world-class talent can act as a catalyst, inspiring existing players to elevate their game. It fosters a sense of ambition and competitiveness within the squad, as players are motivated to prove themselves alongside or against a top-tier talent. This internal competition can lead to improved performances across the board, creating a more formidable and cohesive unit.
For the fans, a marquee signing generates excitement and optimism. It signals the club’s ambition and commitment to success, which in turn galvanizes the support base. A high-profile acquisition can reinvigorate fan engagement, leading to increased attendance, merchandise sales, and a more vibrant atmosphere at matches. This renewed energy can be crucial, especially in challenging periods, providing the team with an extra push when needed.
Lastly, in today’s football landscape, the business side of the sport is almost as important as the on-field success. An elite signing can significantly enhance Chelsea’s global brand. High-profile players attract massive media attention, which translates into greater visibility and marketability for the club. This can lead to lucrative sponsorship deals, partnerships, and an expanded global fan base, all of which contribute to the club’s financial health and long-term sustainability.
Furthermore, a marquee player often brings with them a dedicated following, which can help Chelsea penetrate new markets and demographics. This global appeal is vital in an era where clubs are not just local institutions but international brands competing for attention and revenue in a crowded marketplace.
While CHELSEA‘s current signings provide a strong foundation for the future, the acquisition of an elite player is essential for sending a real statement of intent. It would significantly.’
