‘Perfect’ for Chelsea – incoming South American backed for Stamford Bridge success

Andros Townsend has backed Mauricio Pochettino to turn CHELSEA around.

After the club decided to get rid of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter last season – the decision has been made to bring Mauricio Pochettino back to the Premier League.

The Argentine turned Tottenham into one of the best sides in the Premier League – helped the club to reach a Champions League final and get sacked the very next season.

He has been out of a job since leaving PSG – but has always been eager to come back to the Premier League and The Everton winger was full of praise for the Argentine’s work at Tottenham and for helping his personal development.

And speaking to talkSPORT about Poch, he said: “He’s the perfect manager for them.

“He took Tottenham from mediocrity to one game away from winning the Champions League.

“None of the top managers could have done what Pochettino did at Spurs.

“The first thing he will do is weed out the bad characters that he doesn’t want.”

When asked if he loved Pochettino by Laura Woods, Townsend said: “It’s only after I left and got older and wiser and more mature [that I] realised I really enjoyed my time under him.

“He cares about you as a human being and he’s always trying to improve you.

“For me, he’s definitely one of the best managers I have had.”

If he can get the players he wants – then he will be a massive success at Stamford Bridge. And the fans will surely enjoy his brand of football too.
