Chelsea Board Make The Decision To Sign New Striker – ‘is an absolute priority’

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has opened up on who Chelsea will look to sign in the January window.

Chelsea have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons this season and have really struggled to find the back of the net on a regular basis, which has cost them already this season.

They have just beaten Tottenham 4-1 in the Premier League, but their London rivals were down to nine men, lost their best players and lost their heads in a game that the Blues really struggled to break down a side until the 70 minute.

Many fans are happy with the result, but it does not hide the fact the fact that there are some serious issues for Chelsea that need to be solved, as Tottenham looked like getting something from the game even with nine men.

Now, Romano has opened up and claimed that Chelsea will surely look to sign a new forward in the January window: “For Chelsea to get a new striker is an absolute priority, but in January it’s not easy to find the right player,” Romano said

“We know they like talented young players. For sure they also like Ivan Toney, but let’s see how much they’re prepared to invest.

“Victor Osimhen is also appreciated but Napoli will push to keep him until at least the end of the season, so a January move is really complicated. Still, for sure a new striker is one of Chelsea’s priorities for 2024.”

If Chelsea can sign a world class striker that can finish off all their brilliant build-up play, then they will have a shot of getting back into that Champions League spots.

The game against Tottenham proves nothing as the Blues were up against nine men – still struggled to score and very nearly saw their rivals score in the dying minutes of the game.

A striker is needed at Chelsea, Nicolas Jackson scored three against Tottenham, but is not the man they need to lead them back to success.
