Chelsea wants to complete signing of Colombian International – rivals will do deal for £40M
It has been claimed in the media once again that Chelsea are still very interested in signing Aston Villa talent Jhon Duran – a striker that the club have been chasing since the start of the transfer window.
The centre-forward scored a modest eight goals in 37 appearances in all competitions last season and it is believed the Blues see the 20-year-old as a potential answer to their striker problems.
Duran is thought to be happy at Villa Park but would be eager to move to CHELSEA if they push through with their interest. It is thought the striker believes he would work well with Maresca and suits the club’s vision.
It is reported that he has asked his agent to get a deal done despite no formal proposal being made, and Permission has been granted by Villa for Chelsea to discuss personal terms but nothing is doing so far.
Villa are desperate to get Duran off the books, according to the Football Insider website, and are holding out for closer to £40million for the Colombia international after rejecting around £30million for his services
Fabrizio Romano told CaughtOffside: “Keep an eye on the striker situation, as another player they still like is Jhon Duran.’

Duran is certainly a talented striker – but this is the wrong move at the wrong time for the lad – he will really struggle to make any sort of impact at CHELSEA because he is not good enough for the Blues yet.
We are sure that Enzo Maresca would like a more ready-made striker to get signed – so this is surely a player that the Blues board are more interested in signing.
Chelsea fans have seen so many players arrive at the club for alot more money than they are worth – so the decision from the board to not splash £40 million on Duran will surely come as welcomed news.
