Chelsea Wednesday! Icardi to move, Alonso to sign deal, Barkley sends Hazard message and Loftus-Cheek told to leave
Here is a roundup from all todays Chelsea Headlines.
Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi is not happy at the Italian giants, as they will not give him the contract he desires.
Icardi was linked with a summer move to Chelsea after reports emerged he could leave Inter after reports emerged which suggested the Italians were not ready to open up contract talks.
But as speculation grew on whether or not he could leave, Milan started negotiations over a new contract and it seemed Icardi was all set to stay put.
However, Italian website Calciomercato has claimed Icardi is now demanding €8m (£7.2m) plus bonuses to renew but Inter are only prepared to offer €6.5m (£5.70m) plus bonuses.
Milan are keen to get the deal done, but are not prepared to budge too much on the high wages Icardi is asking, meaning Chelsea are now ready to swoop in and offer him the kind of contract he desires.
Meanwhile, Marcos Alonso has revealed he is close to signing a new deal with Chelsea, to end speculation he could leave.
Since making the move back to the Premier League a few seasons ago, Alonso has developed into one of the best left-backs in world football and is one of the main creative forces for the Blues.
He has once again become a key player for the new boss, Maurizio Sarri, and the Italian boss is keen to end speculation that Real Madrid are looking to wrap up a transfer deal next summer by offering Alonso a new and improved contract.
Alonso told the Sky Sports website: “I am very calm and very happy at Chelsea, and the club must also be happy with me because, although I still have two years left on my contract, they have offered me an extension.
“We are talking about it and the talks to renew are already advanced. If everything goes well, I think I will renew before the end of this month – in the coming days.”
He added: “My father takes care of that as he is the one who leads the negotiations. I am 27-years-old, I still have two more years and I am going to extend my contract.
“What concerns me is to play as well as possible to win matches and titles with Chelsea and with the national team. I’m calm with my contract.!
And Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has thanks Eden Hazard for his kind words and wants the Belgian to stay at the club.
Despite an incredible start to the new season for Hazard, there has been constant speculation that he is all set to leave the club at the end of the season with reports he is looking to follow Thibuat Courtois To Real Madrid and give himself one final challenge in the game.
But the Belgian has come out recently and admitted he believes Barkley can become one of the best midfielders in world football if he continues to develop at the club, something the Englishman has thanked him for.
He was quoted on the TalkSport website: “Inspirational.
“He’s a magnificent player you can see with how he started the season and the World Cup he had that [he’s unique]. You don’t get many players like him.
“He’s capable of magic at any moment and to hear the things that he has said it’s great for me to hear a player like that say such great things about me.”
And Barkley then switched his attentions to the future of Hazard, and told the Belgian he wants to play with him for many more years.
He added: “It’s important because he’s been at Chelsea for a long time now and he’s achieved so much. I can’t speak for Eden, he knows in his mind what he wants but I’d love to play with him for many more years ahead.”
Finally, Liverpool and Arsenal transfer target Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been urged to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window.
Regarded as one of the best talents England have to offer, Loftus-Cheek had the opportunity to leave Chelsea during the summer transfer window but opted to stay put and fight for his Blues future, with all indications he was set to get a chance under Maurizio Sarri.
But it just hasn’t happened for Loftus-Cheek, who has made just three appearances for the London club so far this term and that has led to speculation both Arsenal and Liverpool are ready to make cheeky moves and get a bargain deal done.
And Allardyce believes it’s time for Loftus-Cheek to finally call it a day with Chelsea, telling the TalkSport website: “I’m disappointed for Loftus-Cheek.
“Chelsea have told him he’s going to be a part of the team this season and, if that is the case, they haven’t lived up to that yet.
“What he did for Crystal Palace last season and for England at the World Cup, I thought this would be a big season for him at Chelsea, but it’s simply not happening.
“If I were Loftus-Cheek I would be battering the door down in January and saying, ‘that’s it, I need to get away’.
“And not on loan, get away from Chelsea properly and build his own career.
“He’s had the taste of playing first team football at Palace and obviously he loves Chelsea, but it’s not happening for him there.
“He’s got to play. He’s too talented not to play, we’ve all seen that.”
