Chelsea welcome Brand new signing, Blues complete goalkeeper signing, Chelsea in talks sign up midfielder

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer talk from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Mamdou Sarr, Livia Peng and Moises Caicedo…

CHELSEA is delighted to confirm the transfer of Mamadou Sarr from Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg, with the defender signing a contract until 2033.

‘The Blues posted on the club website: ‘Mamadou was a regular for Strasbourg during the 2024/25 campaign and played a key role in the French team securing qualification for European football next season.

‘The 19-year-old made 28 appearances across all competitions and helped the club seal a place in next season’s UEFA Conference League play-off.

‘Mamadou first showed his high potential in the academy of RC Lens before joining Lyon. Having progressed through the club’s youth ranks, he made his senior debut during the penultimate game of the 2022/23 season.

‘The influential defender was handed two more senior outings during the following campaign before he embarked on a five-month loan spell at Belgian club RWD Molenbeek.

‘Mamadou, a France Under-20 international, joined Strasbourg last August and quickly established himself as a regular starter in defence. He made 27 starts in Ligue 1 as Strasbourg claimed a seventh-place finish.

‘His talent has been recognised by his country as he has been capped at various youth levels, with his latest appearances coming for France’s Under-20 side.

Welcome to Chelsea, Mamadou!’

IcFootballnews says…

Sarr is a talented young defender, he is a lad that could have a bright future, he is a player that Chelsea believe could become world class, but this move does not make sense.

He will probably be loaned out for the next few seasons, he may never even get a chance to play for Chelsea, this is a move that CHELSEA did not need to make and the defender did not need to make.

He was developing very nicely at Strasbourg, now that is all gone and he may well have to reignite his career in a few seasons as he will struggle to make any real impact at the Blues.

CHELSEA SIGN PENG

CHELSEA have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Livia Peng, with the Switzerland international joining the Blues from Werder Bremen on 1 July 2025.

The Blues posted on the club website: ‘Having risen through the ranks at FC Zurich, Peng made her debut for the Swiss club at the age of 17. That year, she also made her Women’s Champions League debut before becoming a first-team regular in 2019.

‘Three years later, Peng made the move to BK Hacken in Sweden and was subsequently loaned out to Levante, making five appearances in Spain. Her performances attracted the attention of Werder Bremen, who captured Peng’s signature in 2023 and immediately made her their first-choice goalkeeper.

‘Last month, she helped Werder Bremen reach the German Women’s Cup Final for the first time ever. Their 3-1 victory over Hamburg in the semi-final was in front of a 57,000-strong crowd, the biggest on record for a women’s game in Germany.

‘On the international stage, she was first called up to the Swiss senior side in 2020 and was included in the squads for the 2022 Women’s European Championships and the World Cup in 2023.

Peng said: ‘It feels so good to be here. When I was 10, I dreamed of playing for Chelsea. Now, my childhood dream has come true and it’s so exciting. I’m really happy to join the Chelsea family and get started.

‘It’s such a big club. Chelsea want to win titles and so do I. We’re a good match. I’m hungry to win here.’

Paul Green, head of women’s football at CHELSEA, said: ‘Livia is a proactive and athletic goalkeeper who is comfortable with the ball at her feet. Out of possession, she protects the space behind her defenders and is strong in one-v-one-situations.

‘Livia will add further competition to our already talented goalkeeping group, and we look forward to seeing her develop in a Chelsea shirt.’

‘Everyone at Chelsea warmly welcomes Livia to the club, and we wish her every success during her time as a Blue!’

CHELSEA IN CAICEDO TALKS

Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano has opened up and claimed that CHELSEA are in talks with midfielder Moises Caicedo about extending his stay at Stamford Bridge, as they love the player

After establishing himself in the Premier League with Brighton, many had hoped that Caicedo would make an immediate impact at Chelsea after his massive £115 million transfer move to the Premier League giants.

His first few months did not go how he would have liked, but he has flourished under Enzo Maresca this season and has really made that central midfield position his own as he now looks like the player many had hoped he would become.

And according to Romano, Chelsea have opened talks with the midfielder about a new deal, He says: “My understanding is that Chelsea, internally, are preparing a new contract proposal to be discussed.

“[They’re] not in a rush because the contract is still very long, but [it’s] to be discussed [in the] next months with Moises Caicedo because they love the player. They have a feeling that many top clubs around Europe are really appreciating him.

Caicedo recently claimed it was a dream to play for Chelsea – ‘It’s a dream come true,’ he told the club website

‘It’s a great feeling [playing for CHELSEA],‘You always prepare for this moment and now you are here at Stamford Bridge with your fans and winning games. You are helping the team and it’s amazing – sometimes I go home and just smile.

‘This season, so far, we are doing fantastically, but for sure, all the players, the head coach, and the staff want us to do the same for the rest of the season.’

‘When you come to a big club you always need to know that people are going to talk about you. It was me in that moment [after joining] and I suffered a little bit. But this is football and in football, this happens a lot.

‘You need to be strong, to have a strong mentality, and to have good people around you to help you. I have that; my people support me in every moment and I’m so happy about that.

‘I think he [Maresca] is happy with me because I always try to show him I want to help the team. He can see that in every game. I’m happy working with him, he is helping us a lot. All the players and staff are happy with how we are doing now.’
