£62 million Fekir ‘to push for move’ as Willian in Chelsea exit talks with Barcelona
Reports have now claimed Lyon star Nabil Fekir will ‘push for a move’ at the end of the season, amid Chelsea and Bayern Munich speculation.
The highly-rated Frenchman had become one of the most talked about players in the transfer window, as the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid were reportedly keen to acquire his services for the £60 million Lyon wanted.
But it seemed it was Liverpool who were all set to seal a deal as Fekir was half way through a medical before Jurgen Klopp pulled the plug on a deal as they were not happy with the Frenchman’s long-standing knee injury.
And that reportedly opened the door for Chelsea to swoop in and offer him a move Stamford Bridge, with Maurizio Sarri looking to do some late transfer business.
However, the Italian eventually backed out of any potential deal as he decided to swoop for the impressive duo of Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho, who have turned out to be two great buys from the Italian boss.
But according to L’Equipe, Fekir is hoping to finally secure his big-money move away from Lyon next summer and will be using the Champions League to try and impress, as he hopes both Chelsea and Bayern make a move at the end of the season.
Recent reports suggested Sarri is ready to reignite his interest in a possible £62 million deal for Fekir after recent reports claimed Barcelona have held talks with the agent of Willian about a possible transfer move away from Stamford Bridge.
Now Willian has been a brilliant player for Chelsea ever since he arrived at Stamford Bridge from Shakhtar Donetsk, but he is not looking 100 per cent happy at the club and with rumours he wants the switch to Barca, an immediate replacement is needed.
And although Fekir is a different type of player than Willian, his impressive 21-goals last season means that he could bring creativity and goals to the Chelsea squad, which is needed as the Blues rely heavily on star man Eden Hazard.
So if Willian does decide to leave, and Chelsea do seriously want to sign Fekir, then the Frenchman would be the perfect replacement for the Brazilian, at the right price of course.
