Chelsea wrap up winger deal – Agent in London talking to Chelsea – Blues in talks to sign Prem star
Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed –
Chelsea have made an approach for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, Fabrizio Romano has claimed.
The January transfer window has been open for a while now and Chelsea have been one of the most active clubs, with the likes of Andrey Santos, Joao Felix, Mudryk and David Fofana just some names that have made the move to London.
However – that has not stopped the speculation and the rumours that Chelsea are very much interested in a deal for the impressive Onana – who is now tipped to leave Everton.
Now – Romano has opened up and told GiveMeSport that Chelsea have made their moves to get a deal done for Onana – and says the Blues have spoken to the player’s agents and his club about a move to Stamford Bridge this month.
According to multiple outlets, including The Telegraph, Onana has rejected a proposal from Chelsea.
However, the newspaper has also stated that people close to the 21-year-old have not completely ruled out a transfer yet, so this may not be the end of it.
Chelsea have signed some very good players – some very exciting players that could make a big impact at the club – but Onana is not really a player that will make much of a difference.
He has been ok at Everton and could play for a big club – but all the world class players that Chelsea already have at the club – he may struggle to even get into that squad.
So, the best thing for him would be to not make a move to London – it surely is not the right one to make.
Dumfries talks –
Rafaela Pimenta, agent of Denzel Dumfries, is currently in England to hold talks with Chelsea over a potential move for the Dutchmen,
Reece James picked up a serious injury earlier in the season that has kept him out for a while now – and also kept him out of impressing at the World Cup with England.
He may be getting better and returning to action soon – but his departure has shown Graham Potter that he needs to delve into that transfer kitty and add another right-sided defender to the squad.
Dumfries is a player that Chelsea have been eyeing up for some time – but have never made an official offer – but after seeing him impress at the World Cup – and according to the latest reports – Chelsea are determined to sign the defender
Now – according to Gazetta dello sport. his agent is in Londo to complete a possible move to the Premier League and Chelsea
Amid all the speculation and the rumours – reporter Iomie Stanley told icfootballnews: ‘Chelsea do not need to splash the cash to sign a defender that will replace Reece James – just provide back-up.
‘The Dutchman is a starter – he is a player that will want to play every-game and that could cause issues.
‘James is one of the best wingbacks in the game, so Chelsea. should be looking to sign a player that will provide him good competition – be a good back-up but also be ready to sit on the bench and be happy.
‘There is no harm in having two quality wingbacks in the squad – but with both of them eager to play – Dumfries would be a very good signing if he is prepared to wait for his chances.
Rankine deal done –
Chelsea winger Dion Rankine has pledged his future to the club by agreeing a new contract,
The talented winger worked his way through the youth teams at Cobham and has become a regular for the development side over the past few seasons.
He is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents that Chelsea have had for some time and the club were very keen to make sure that he signed that big new deal.
Chelsea are now deciding whether or not to send Rankine out on loan before the transfer window closes next Tuesday – or keep him at the club and maybe give him a chance in that first team at some point between now and the end of the season.
This is great news for the lad and for Chelsea – he really is a talented young man. Maybe the best thing for him to do is get sent out on loan and get some game time – especially if he doesnt get that at the Blues.
His future looks – bright and with Chelsea putting alot of emphasis on that academy – there could be a chance for Rankine to make some sort of impact over the next few seasons.
But great news for the lad – as we said.
