£142 million decision made! Barcelona ‘have decided’ to sell perfect Chelsea signing Coutinho
Reports have claimed Barcelona have decided long-term Chelsea target Philippe Coutinho is done at the Nou Camp, and will look to offload the Brazilian.
The Brazilian has struggled to live up to his enormous price tag in a disappointing season for the Catalan club, who will try to cash in on their £142m signing to fund a big summer overhaul.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move as they prepare for life after Eden Hazard, while Manchester United have also been mooted as a potential destination, with the Belgian superstar now officially a Real Madrid player.
And after reports emerged which claimed that Barcelona were open to the idea of letting Coutinho leave, clubs starting making moves to try and nail down his signature over the course of this transfer window.
But his agent Kia Joorabchian recently announced he had met with Barcelona to discuss Coutinho’s future and announced Barcelona had decided to keep hold of the Brazilian.
‘I talked a few days ago with Pep Segura at Barcelona,’ he told RMC Sport.
“He told me that the club does not want to sell Coutinho this summer. No matter the And then, we have not had any contact with PSG.’
But Spanish Publication Marca has now claimed Barcelona have decided that Coutinho is no longer in the club’s plans and they are trying to sign Antoine Griezmann and Neymar, so are willing to take a cut on the £142 million to paid to acquire his services just a few seasons ago.
Coutinho is a creative force and a man that needs to come back to the Premier League, as it is perfect for his style of play. So if Chelsea are ready to offer him the kind of wages that he wants, then he should consider a move to the Blues as he would face a backlash from Liverpool if he signed for United and signing for PSG would be a massive step down.
Money talks and the right amount of money will indeed convince Barca to sell, despite what his agent has admitted.
But it is just a shame that Chelsea cannot get him this transfer window.
