Gunners hero Cazorla opens up and confirms Arsenal interest in £85 million rated La Liga duo

Santi Cazorla claims he’s been asked about Villarreal teammates Pau Torres and Samuel Chukwueze by former club Arsenal.

There has been alot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few weeks about whom boss Mikel Arteta could bring in at the end of the season to help improve this Gunners side enough to challenge the top four spots.

And media claims have been circling that the Gunners have been keeping a very close eye on the impressive duo of Pau and Chukueze, who are at that stage now that they need to make the big step up and play for a side that is superior to Villarreal if they are to reach their full potential.

And amid all the speculation surrounding the duo and Arsenal, Cazorla has come out and claimed that he has been asked bout the pair by former club Arsenal, He told Marca: “Yes (I’m asked about them), friends from Arsenal especially. They ask me about them and think they can make the jump to the Premiership tomorrow.

“It’s good that great teams are interested in young players from Villarreal, but for the moment I tell them to leave them alone here.

“They still have to take steps forward. They both have a great personality and their feet are on the ground.

“In Pau’s case he hears constant talk of City or Barcelona, but he is aware that he has to keep growing as a player and that in the future we will see where he can go.”

Target Samuel Chukwueze is now worth £60million – but Arsenal could have reportedly snapped him up for just £4m in 2017.

According to Guardian Nigeria, Arsenal were set to pay just £4million for the talented youngster, speaking to Tribal Football, Chukwueze said: “It was very close for me to sign for Arsenal, I almost had the contract in my hands.

“Unfortunately, it did not work out fine with my academy due to the side of agreement and payment. They did not agree with the terms of the contract.

“I was very happy thinking of signing and dreaming of playing for Arsenal, but my academy did not allow it to happen.”
