Red Devils legend Cole has Premier League warning for Manchester United fans

Red Devils legend Andy Cole has claimed that Manchester United are a few years away from winning the Premier League title.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down as boss of United, the Red Devils have seemingly fallen further and further away from the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool in the chase to win the Premier League title.

They are even struggling to even get back inside the Champions League spots, but boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was backed during the summer transfer window and he went out and spent a ton of money on players whom he believed would help the side get back to the very top of the game.

They finished 32 points behind champions City last term, and have not started this campaign the way many believed, but former United striker Cole says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side need to stay patient.

“I genuinely believe we’re still a few years away,” Cole told Sky Sports.

“We’ve just got to keep improving, keep bringing in better players and just try and improve season by season, because the two teams at the top – Liverpool and Manchester City – they’re pulling away from everyone.

“I was in a team at Manchester United where we were doing exactly the same thing and in the end, everyone else closed the gap.

“It’s a case of just keep persevering, keep improving season by season and closing the gap.”

Right now United are well behind Liverpool and City and they need to do some serious buying and rebuilding over the next few seasons to start closing that gap. But they do have some very exciting youngsters and when they start developing and turning into top-class players, well it will be a different story.

United are going through a phase of rebuilding and that will take time, but they do have the bonus that they are one of the biggest teams in the game right now and can go out and sign the biggest players, if they want too.

And they need too.
