Coach confirms club ‘COULDNT STOP’ Premier League’s best from completing Arsenal move – Announcement imminent
Brentford goalkeeper coach Manu Sotelo has heaped praise on Arsenal bound David Raya whilst admitting the club knew they couldn’t keep him.
ARSENAL are set to activate the £27million option in his contract after impressing on loan during the 2023/24 season. Raya conceded just 31 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions, keeping 20 clean sheets.
He played an integral part in Arsenal boasting the best defensive record in the Premier League and now, Raya is set to seal his return to the Emirates on a permanent basis. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are ‘completing formal documents’ for the transfer of Raya to Arsenal
And ahead of the imminent announcement Brentford coach Sotelo has admitted that the club were never going to be able to keep hold of the Spanish star: “David’s thing is not a surprise, because I know how he competes,” he told Faro de Vigo.
“He is the smartest goalkeeper I was with, anything you said to him he said he was going to try and do it in the next game.
“He has brutal ambition, intelligence and an incredible way of training. He dominates all game situations and is a leader.
“We knew it was going to be very difficult to retain him.”

Look, many people were surprised by the signing of Raya last summer – they had no idea that he would become one of the best players in that Arsenal squad under Mikel Arteta, he was brilliant last season.
£27 million is not alot of money to pay for one of the best stoppers in the Premier League and it will be an absolute bargain once the Gunners announce a deal for the Spanish star.
He deserves the permanent move to Arsenal – it would have been a crime if he didnt get a big five-year ARSENAL contract
