Man United get Coutinho boost, Giggs wants three signed by Solskjaer, Vertonghen deal on? United interested in Torres in Manchester United roundup..

Brazil legend Rivaldo reckons Manchester United target Philippe Coutinho should return to England this summer.

There has been alot of speculation over the past few months about the possible destination of Coutinho is he comes back to the Premier League, with a number of clubs reportedly interested in a potential deal.

Coutinho has flopped at Barcelona since his move from Liverpool just a few seasons ago and was shipped out to Bayern Munich for two seasons as the Spaniards figured out what to do with the Brazilian.

But it is claimed that he is looking for a move back to the Premier League this season, and although Manchester United are a strong interest for the man, Rivaldo has claimed that a move to Arsenal or Tottenham would be the better switch for the midfielder.

Rivaldo told Betfair: “Philippe Coutinho will soon return from his loan at Bayern to Barcelona, but I doubt he can revive his career there.

“His best option could be returning to English football where he spent the best seasons of his career and in which his qualities seem to be best suited, as he proved at Liverpool when he was one of the best players in the Premier League.

“At Arsenal, Tottenham or Leicester, Coutinho could be a regular starter next season.

“It would be a good opportunity for the Brazillan to rediscover his best form and show that he continues to be an excellent player who belongs to the elite.”

Reports have now claimed that Manchester United are interested in signing the £43 million rated Pau Torres.

Manchester United are in the headlines on a daily basis with constant reports that the club are talking to possible targets about a summer move to Old Trafford, especially as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows that he needs to improve this defence.

The Red Devils back-line may have improved since the coronavirus stopped football, but they have already shipped too many goals in the Premier League this season, and Solskjaer knows that he needs to sign a few players that will come in, and improve the back-line enough for a Premier League challenge, with Torres on the shopping list.

The 23-year-old defender has been outstanding for Villarreal after returning from an impressive loan stint with Malaga, and United were considering a January swoop for the Spanish centre-back before deciding not to sign anybody.

According to the TIMES, Manchester United have joined the likes of Arsenal in the chase for the defender and may be ready to pay the money it would take to seal a transfer deal.

Torres, 23, has a £43million release clause in his new contract and the Villarreal starlet recently hinted at a potential move to the Premier League by revealing that he’s been learning English to pass the time amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Ryan Giggs has claimed Manchester United need THREE first-team quality stars to challenge domestically and in Europe in 2020-21.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done a very good job at Old Trafford this season, despite not having the world class players that many associate the Red Devils having in their squads.

But the United legend managed to get this Manchester United side back inside those top four spots, and has now managed to create a midfield and attack that will cause many teams problems next season.

But in order to push on and challenge for for trophies both domestically and in Europe, Giggs has claimed that Solskjaer needs to add three first-team player to his squad over the next ten weeks.

He told Premier League Productions: “It’s huge for attracting players. Some players will choose clubs that are in the Champions League.

“And [it helps] in holding on to some players too. It’s just huge. Eventually when we get crowds back, Champions League nights at Old Trafford are special.

“Ole’s beginning to mould a team which is exciting. He said that they were running out of legs a little bit.

“After lockdown, he’s played the same team more or less, which he had to because they’re on such a good run – so it was hard to chop and change.

“They need three players I would say that can go into the starting XI, even to challenge for the league and the Champions League next year.”

Jan Vertonghen has not ruled out staying in the Premier League with Manchester United mooted as a possible destination.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows that he has a defence that needs alot of sorting in the transfer window if he is get back into the habit of winning trophies and playing in the Champions League on a yearly basis

That means that United will need to delve into that transfer kitty in the summer window and try to acquire a defender or two that will be able to come in and add a bit of experience to that back-line.

And although there has been some world class players linked with a move to old Trafford, Manchester United could decide to offer Vertonghen a one-year contract to make the move across London.

The 33-year-old Belgian is looking for a new club after his contract at Spurs ran out after he did not want to work under the guidance of Jose Mourinho and sign a new contract, meaning that United could sign him for nothing.

And he has opened the door to a possible move after admitting that he would consider staying in the Premier League, he told Sky Sports “I’m considering the options and making a good choice. That will be out probably sooner rather than later. Obviously the window now is longer than it was last year, so we’ve got a bit of time to assess the best option.”

Asked if he could join another English club, he said: “It will all depend on the options. I’ve got something in my head and we’ll see if that will come around or not.”
