Ornestein opens up and has Arsenal transfer update about possible Coutinho deal
Arsenal have reportedly parked their interest in trying to sign Philippe Coutinho this summer transfer window.
There has been alot of transfer speculation, and we mean alot, over the past few months about Arsenal trying to bring the Brazilian star back to the Premier League, with many reports suggesting that he was done at Barcelona and had no future with the club.
And Arsenal are one of the favourites to bring him back to the Premier League, along with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, who have both been credited with a possible summer deal over the past few months.
A season-long stint at Bayern Munich has only served to raise further questions of the 28-year-old’s form and fitness , and recent reports from Goal have claimed Barcelona are now looking to put another deal in place, with the Liga giants aware that they cannot incorporate another sizeable salary into their plans for 2020-21.
However, according to the Athletic journalist David Ornstein, he is not a player they are actively pursuing now, despite admitting tat the Gunners have made an offer to try and get a deal done.
Speaking on his YouTube show AskOrnstein, he said: “We know that Arsenal have been offered Coutinho in the past and quite possibly recently.
“We also don’t know how this window will develop, things can change at any moment.
“But, as things stand, it’s not a player that they are pursuing.”
Coutinho is a world class player that would have been a brilliant signing for the club, so if Ornestein is right and the Arsenal are no longer interested, they will be missing out on a bargain this summer.
