Manchester United star OFFICIIALLY welcomes new boss Ruben Amorim to Old Trafford

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot is excited to work with Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford after it emerged that the FC Porto boss was taking over the Premier League giants in the coming weeks.

The Old Trafford hierarchy unanimously decided to sack Erik ten Hag having decided enough was enough after Sunday’s late loss at West Ham continued their poor start to his third season in charge.

Manchester United, who sit 14th in the Premier League, have spent around £600m building a squad in the vision of Ten Hag since he was appointed in 2022 and were expected to be well up challenging for a Champions League place and maybe even for that Premier League title

What has happened?

United immediately set their sights on highly-rated coach Amorim, who is preparing to lead Sporting against Estrela da Amadora in the Primeira Liga on Friday night, and informed Sporting that they would meet his 10m euros (£8.4m) release clause.

Amorim will take charge of United on November 11 once he has fulfilled his obligations at his current club.

United have paid around £10.6m to appoint the former midfielder, which included extra payments to release him from his 30-day notice period. His first game in charge will be against Ipswich on November 24, live on Sky Sports.

Dalot is looking forward to getting started under the new manager: “He is a fantastic coach and knows what he wants. Very demanding is what i can expect. It’s a perfect match for a club like this.

“He has high standards and I hope it can be a good match. I hope we can win together.

“The Premier League suits people from Portugal. We have a culture of constantly trying to improve ourselves as we come from a small country.

“I really hope that it is one more case. I am really excited to start working with him.”
