37-goal man decision after holding United talks, Man United officially announce midfielder deal, Koulibaly boost given Rice message sent
David makes transfer decision, Koulibaly boots given, Rice message sent in Manchester United news roundup..
Manchester United have suffered a summer transfer blow in their pursuit of Gent star Jonathan David, reports claim.
Despite the Coronavirus putting a hold to the Premier League season and despite the fact that the transfer window is still weeks away, there has been alot of speculation in the media about possible arrivals to Old Trafford, with a striker on the agenda.
It is no secret that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to improve this side with some big time signings, and reports in the media have suggested he will indeed get the £200 million it will take to sign some top-class, big-time names players in the summer, with a striker on the list
And that has led to some speculation in the media suggesting that United are interested in signing the very impressive David during the summer transfer window.
He’s since proven himself as one of the brightest talents in world football having scored a phenomenal 37 goals and provided 15 assists in 83 appearances for the club.
Belgian newspaper HLN claim United have held exploratory talks with David’s representatives in recent months, but appear likely NOT to secure his signature.
And that, according to HLN, is because David is determined to join a Bundesliga club and will NOT consider a different league.
David Moyes feels Manchester United target Declan Rice is not only West Ham’s best midfielder – he is probably their best centre-half as well.
United spent some serious money during the summer transfer window, but Solskjaer failed to do the kind of business that he wanted and there has been speculation in the media that he would try and bring in a few players during the January transfer window.
But despite all the speculation, he only managed to secure a loan deal for Odion Ighalo and the brilliant signing of Bruno Fernandes, meaning that he will need to buy in this coming transfer window, with Rice on the shopping list.
England international Rice began his career in defence but has been a mainstay of the Hammers’ midfield since breaking into the team two seasons ago, and his performances have caught the attentions of many top clubs.
The 21-year-old had to slot back into his old position against Wolves on Saturday following an injury to Angelo Ogbonna, and his composed display was one of very few bright spots in the 2-0 defeat, and now Moyes may be tempted to stick with Rice regardless.
“Declan could arguably be my best centre-half and best midfielder so we have to try and see what we have got, who is fit and available and use him the best we can,” said the Hammers boss.
“We know he can give us something else in midfield, but he showed he is also defensively sound when he goes into the backline.
“He has improved so much, so going forward for himself and for us it is a great thing to have.”
Manchester United are once again being linked with Kalidou Koulibaly and the recent reports in Spain are intriguing.
United were once again in the transfer headlines on a daily basis about possible arrivals and possible departures, as it seemed that everyone of their players were linked with a move away, while every player was linked with a move London.
And one name that was high up on the shopping list of United boss is that of Kouliably, who is easily regarded as one of the finest central defenders in Seria A, and around Europe.
Koulibaly has been outstanding for Napoli over the past few seasons and his performances has attracted all sorts of interest from the games biggest clubs, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and even Barcelona all joining United in the chase for the defenders signature.
And United could turn into Premier League title contenders next season if they just make the right world class signings, United have slumped well down the Premier League table with an inconsistent start to the new season, and they need to add a world class partner to that back-line to help out Harry Maguire
And they are reportedly closing in on a transfer deal, with Mundo Deportivo published a story and stated that Napoli are looking to replace the Senegalese international by signing Barcelona starlet, Todibo, who is currently on loan with Schalke and valued at €25 million.
Strong, classy and composed, the 28-year-old is rightly considered world-class and would be a major statement of intent from Solskjaer in his quest to get the club back challenging for more than a top four spot.
If Solskjaer is to sign big time players, then he should start with the signing of Koulibaly as he could be the leader that the club are seeking, especially as they need to add a bit more experience to that back-line.
Midfielder Scott McTominay has signed a new deal at Manchester United until the summer of 2025.
The midfielder, who was given his debut by Jose Mourinho in 2017, has become a key part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and established himself as a regular starter for the club.
McTominay has made 75 appearances for the first team since making his debut and has scored six goals. His last being United’s second in their derby day win against Manchester City in March.
And after agreeing the new deal, The midfielder said on the club website: “Whilst I understand that we all have so many other things to think about at the moment, I’m so happy to sign this contract and play a part in the future ahead for this team.
“All I have ever known is United and I hope that my passion for the club shows every time I go onto the pitch. I’ll continue to give everything for this club whenever I pull on the shirt.
“I want to thank the manager for the faith he has shown in me and everyone at the club that has helped me to get where I am today. I’m looking forward to finishing this season on a high and hopefully achieving our aims.”
“Scott has done tremendously well since I joined and has been a vital part of our midfield. He brings determination, tenacity and skill to the game and we know that Scott’s attributes will be a major asset to the squad over the coming years,” boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added.
“As we always say the academy is the bedrock of the club and having come through the system everyone knows that Scott has shown the exact mentality that you need to succeed at Manchester United. I look forward to seeing his continued improvement in the years to come.”
