Italian confirms Man United are closing in on signing of €85m star
Man United are making progress on their deal to sign Frenkie de Jong – fans have been told by Fabrizio Romano
De Jong has been the big transfer story so far for Man United fans this summer – as he is the player that Erik Ten Hag most wants to come in and add some quality to that Red Devils midfield
Recent reports have even claimed De Jong has made a U-turn and is now willing to join Man United, having previously been adamant he has no reason to leave the Nou Camp.
It has also been claimed that Barcelona are very much open to the idea of letting him leave as they are in need of funds due to their ongoing financial issues – and would accept a fee of £60M for the midfielder
The Red Devils are pushing to try and get a transfer deal over the line – and according to Fabrizio Romano – the Red Devils board have made some progress in a bid to get a move all wrapped up
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported: “Manchester United had a new direct contact today for Frenkie de Jong deal.
“After €65m new verbal bid, Barça ask for €85/86m fee. The agreement is finally getting closer as clubs are in talks about add-ons to reach €85m full package. Work in progress between clubs.”
De Jong is a world class player – there is no doubt about it – but this has been dragging on for some time now and Man United are missing out on players that they could have signed already
We get that Ten Hag wants him – but it is almost clear that De Jong does not want to leave Barcelona – and that is why any possible deal is taking so long
