New Manchester United signing Matthijs De Ligt has vowed to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford – as he wants to get the Manchester giants back to ‘where they belong’
The Netherlands international signed a contract until June 2029, with the option to extend for a further year after it was decided Bayern Munich that he was no longer wanted at the club.
De Ligt has already won the league title in three countries with Ajax, Juventus and Bayern Munich, and the defender has been brought in to add some leadership and quality to a Manchester United back-line that has been leaking goals.
And now the Dutchman has opened up and revealed that he is keen to bring the glory days back to Man United – He said: “We want to get United back to where they belong, which is at the top.
“We have to take it step by step and I think we’ve made some good steps forward from what I hear within the club. Everyone is excited.
“He [Ten Hag] knows me and I know him well. He made me captain at Ajax, he gave me a lot of confidence, motivation.
“When United came for me in the summer, it was an easy decision. They are the biggest club in England.”

De Ligt is coming to Manchester United’ with a big reputation and many fans are excited to see just what he is able to bring to the side – he could be an amazing signing for the Red Devils if he is able to adapt to the Premier League.
United need to get back into the habit of challenging for that Premier League title – they have some world class players in the side – so if they can add a 30 goals a season striker – they will worry Man City and Arsenal
