Italian boss confirms much talked about star could be joining Chelsea this summer – plans in place!
Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi has commented on the future of midfielder and Chelsea target Moises Caicedo
After a very impressive season for Brighton last season – Moises Caicedo has become the number one transfer target for Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino – who is keen to replace the now departed Ngolo Kante.
The Seagulls are understood to have rejected two CHELSEA bids for the Ecuador international, but there has been many reports in the media that the player has a gentleman’s agreement to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
Now his current boss De Zerbi reiterated his desire to keep the player on the south coast but revealed plans were being drawn up for life without him, as he could be leaving for Chelsea.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
“We need to wait and see what happens with Caicedo,” he said. “Then we know what we need to do. I’ve not spoken with him yet, but of course I’d like him to stay.
“If he does leave, we need to buy another great player with the same characteristics and qualities. They are difficult to find. He’s here, he’s trained three days. But he needs time to condition. Right now, there is a possibility he can leave this window.
“What’s he worth? It’s not my job to say. But very difficult to replace. I have no doubt he will cope if he stays. He’s a great guy. But the market isn’t closed so we must wait. He won’t play against Chelsea tomorrow – he’s not ready yet.”
WILL CAICEDO JOIN CHELSEA?
Look, The Blues really want the lad but at the end of the day – he is not worth the kind of money that is being talked about and they are better off just walking away from the deal.
CHELSEA have been paying crazy money for players in recent seasons – Caicedo should not be another one.
