Big news as Arsenal told ‘there is deal to be struck’ with Barcelona over £350,000-a-week star
Former Arsenal player Kevin Campbell believes there’s a deal to be done should Barcelona come calling for club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang is a player that was banging in 20 goals a season since his move to the Bundesliga, and Arsenal made sure that they would keep hold of the Gabon hitman last summer window.
He was all set to leave on a free deal before the Gunners board offered him a contract worth £350,000-a-week, and many Arsenal fans were delighted to see that he committed his future to the club.
However, he struggled for goals, form and any consistency last season and looked like a player that was no longer able to score the amount of goals that Mikel Arteta was hoping for
That has led to some shock reports in the media which have claimed that Arsenal are now willing to let Aubameyang leave the club, with Barcelona once club that are reportedly interested in a transfer deal.
It is believed that the cash-strapped LaLiga giants are willing to offer Philippe Coutinho as part of the deal, But Campbell would rather see the Gunners sign others from Barca.
He told Football Insider: “Coutinho has suffered a lot of injuries.
“On his day he’s world-class, the problem is there haven’t been many of those days in the last 18 months.
“That’s a big risk. If Aubameyang wants out, Barcelona want to use trades.
“Even if it’s not Coutinho, Barcelona have a good right back, they have a good goalkeeper in Ter Stegen.
“I don’t think Coutinho is the answer but there are plenty of other players who we could take.
“If Barcelona come in for Aubameyang, there is a deal to be done. Arsenal hold the cards.
“But another attacker? No, not for me.”
Maybe the best time is for Auba to leave now, but the Gunners would need an adequate replacement as soon as possible
