£200k-a-week star addresses rumours he could sign with Chelsea in January
Mempis Depay has addresses his Barcelona future – with Chelsea still reportedly interested in a possible deal
Barcelona was in shambles after Lionel Messi left the club, as they were depended heavily on him for goals and as soon as the player left the club, there was a void and a lack of goals.
Dutchman Memphis Depay was brought in to fill in the space left behind by the Argentine, but he was not consistent enough in front of the goal and injuries have also messed up his time with the club.
Add the fact that the club signed Robert Lewandowski in the summer transfer window – and Depay has seen his minutes on the pitch drop dramatically – which has led to more speculation that he could leave in the coming transfer window
However – amid all the speculation – Depay has come out and addresses the rumours that he could leave and sign with the likes of Chelsea
What has he said?
“It ended up being a bit of a crazy summer for Memphis Depay, but he’s ended up staying at Barcelona despite the club being prepared to terminate his contract,” Romano explained.
“So, what next? I think the Depay situation is still open in the months ahead. He’s a great professional and that’s why Xavi is playing him, but for January it will depend on the proposals for Memphis.
“At the moment, everything is quiet and nothing will be decided before the World Cup.”
Depay was signed by the Spanish giants who believed that he had the ability to score goals on a regular basis for the club – they were wrong. Man United signed in in belief that he would score goals for the club – they were wrong
So, if Chelsea believes that the possible signing of Depay will help them score more goals and close the gap on both Liverpool and Man City – they are wrong
Depay is a player that does well in the French League or the Dutch League but when he makes that step up to the Premier League or Spanish League – he cannot cope
