Genoa striker Krzysztof Pitaek has opened the door to a Chelsea move after admitted he does not want to sign for Barcelona.

The highly-rated 23-year old striker has been in tremendous form for Genoa this season and recently broke a long-standing record for the Italian side when he became the first Serie A player since the 1949-50 season to score eight goals in the first six games.

His performances have caught the attentions of Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, who is desperate to add more fire-power to his squad with Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud not living up to expectations this season, with Eden Hazard the only real main source of goals.

But there had been speculation Barcelona were ready to gazump Chelsea’s offer for Piatek and get a £50 million deal done, with the long-term future of Luis Suarez is real question.

However, Piatek has revealed that he isn’t considering a move to Barcelona, stating: “I try not to read the papers. When they speak of me on the team, as for the future, I do not look beyond the next training session.

“The Barcelona interest in me – I heard, but I do not believe it – the broken records, including that of Shevchenko, for now I do not consider joining them too much. Maybe one day I will enjoy reading these things “.

Would Piatek be a good Chelsea signing? Here is what we think on a possible deal.

Sarri knows the type of player he wants to add to the front-line in the next couple of windows as Morata and Giroud have not done a good enough job of leading the attack for Chelsea, and Piatek is reportedly high up on his list.

The young man is a rising star in Serie A and has a bright future, but the Premier League is a step up from Serie A and Sarri should only strike a deal for the right price.
