Director gives green light for Chelsea signing – Blues solve issue with £100M arrival – Chelsea get winter deal done defender

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed today –

It has again been claimed in the media that Ben Chilwell is no longer wanted or needed at CHELSEA, and reporter Iomie Stanley has come out and claimed that the Blues will look to get a deal done for the defender in the January transfer window.

He told icfootballnews: ‘The 27-year-old left-back, once a key figure in Chelsea’s defense, may be deemed surplus to requirements under the potential leadership of boss Enzo Maresca.

‘Enzo Maresca has shown a preference for a system that values ball retention and attacking full-backs with strong technical skills. His tactical approach relies on defenders who can seamlessly transition into midfield during build-up play. While Ben Chilwell has the attacking prowess and speed to bomb forward, his recent form at Chelsea has been inconsistent, particularly in terms of his defensive positioning and ball distribution.

‘Chilwell’s injury record hasn’t helped his cause, either. After a lengthy spell on the sidelines last season, the England international has struggled to recapture his best form. Maresca has opted for players better suited to his tactical vision, and that is why they have been so impressive during the opening weeks of the season.

‘Chelsea have shown a willingness to offload players for the right price as part of their squad overhaul under Todd Boehly. A sale of Chilwell in the January window could provide an opportunity for the club to recoup funds and reinvest in other areas of the squad.

‘Several Premier League clubs, as well as teams across Europe, could be interested in Chilwell, who remains a high-quality full-back when fully fit.

‘With Chilwell’s future at CHELSEA now uncertain, the January transfer window may be a pivotal moment in his career. it wouldn’t be surprising to see Chilwell leave Stamford Bridge in search of regular game time and a fresh start elsewhere.’

‘And there will be plenty of clubs that could be interested in a potential deal for the defender.’

ISAK MOVE TO BE MADE –

There has been some fresh reports in the media which has again claimed that CHELSEA will look to reignite a move for Newcastle star Alexander Isak, and according to reporter Iomie Stanley, he may be open to  a move to Stamford Bridge.

He told icfootballnews: Chelsea’s need for a consistent and prolific striker becomes increasingly evident. Despite spending over £1 billion on new recruits under new ownership, the Blues are still struggling for firepower up front.

‘This lack of a reliable goal scorer has left many speculating about who Chelsea could target to solve their scoring woes. One name that could emerge as a potential solution is Newcastle United’s Swedish striker, Alexander Isak.

‘Chelsea’s striker position has been a problem ever since the departure of Diego Costa in 2017. Several high-profile forwards, such as Romelu Lukaku, Álvaro Morata, and Timo Werner, have failed to meet expectations at Stamford Bridge. With Nicolas Jackson still adapting to the Premier League, Chelsea’s attacking options seem insufficient for a team with aspirations of climbing up the Premier League table.

‘This is where Alexander Isak could come in. The Swedish forward has impressed since joining Newcastle from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022, blending pace, skill, and finishing ability with a remarkable consistency. Chelsea might view him as the answer to their longstanding goal-scoring problem.

‘At 24 years old, Alexander Isak offers a blend of youth and experience, making him an attractive option for Chelsea’s project under Enzo Maresca. Known for his versatility, Isak can play both as a central striker and on the wings, providing tactical flexibility.

‘Despite their massive outlay in the last few transfer windows, CHELSEA’s spending power under Todd Boehly’s ownership remains formidable. The club has shown a willingness to spend aggressively to bring in key targets, and January could be no different if they feel Isak is the missing piece of the puzzle.

‘With the Premier League’s financial fair play rules in mind, Chelsea could structure a deal with Newcastle that includes performance-related add-ons or offer fringe players as part of the transaction to sweeten the deal. Given Newcastle’s current squad depth, they might be tempted by the opportunity to bolster their team while making a hefty profit on Isak.

‘From Isak’s perspective, a move to CHELSEA could be an appealing proposition. While Newcastle are on an upward trajectory, Chelsea’s history of success and global recognition could be tempting. Furthermore, a chance to play for a club where he could be the focal point of the attack and work under a manager like Pochettino, known for developing young talent, might sway the Swedish forward’s decision.’

MARMOUSH GREEN LIGHT GIVEN –

Eintracht Frankfurt director of football Markus Krosche has opened the door to the potential sale of Omar Marmoush in the January transfer window, which will alert the likes of CHELSEA to a possible deal.

Marmoush has six goals and three assists in just five Bundesliga games so far this term and is drawing all sorts of attention from some of the biggest teams in the Premier League, including the likes of Chelsea – who are always looking to add to their squad.

The Blues have one of the biggest squads in Europe – but with a number of players expected to leave in the coming windows – there will be some space for the likes of Marmoosh to come in and try to make an impact in that Enzo Maresca side.

Now it seems that they may be able to get a deal done in the January window after Director of football Krosche admitted that the striker has a big commitment to the Bundesliga club, but also acknowledged that no player at the club is unsellable amid rumours that Marmoush is dreaming of a move to England.

Speaking to German media, Krosche said: “It is true that Omar made a very clear commitment to us in the summer. He has developed well and still has a lot of potential to develop further.

“For us, we don’t want to lose so many key players. I have to honestly say that no Eintracht player is unsellable but we want to keep the team together. I talk about Marmoush after every game. But that’s a good thing. Omar gives our game an incredible amount.”

The lad is a talent – he is scoring goals for fun – but we are not sure that he is the answer that CHELSEA  will be looking for – he is probably not ready for the Premier League.
