Fans sent message about striker joining Arsenal after £45MILLION news!

Arsenal do not need a striker, according to legend Lee Dixon, despite Gabriel Jesus set to miss the start of the campaign.

After bringing in over £200 million worth of talent in the transfer window – the Gunners suffered a huge blow when the news broke that Gabriel Jesus would once again be out with an injury which kept him out the side for three months last season.

That has led to speculation in the media that Mikel Arteta will now delve into that transfer kitty and try to add a new striker to the side, with Eddie Nketiah the only recognised forward in the squad.

However – amid that speculation – Dixon has come out and claimed that Arsenal do not need to add another striker to that attack this summer.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

He told SkyBet’s Fan Hope Survey: “A lot of people may want a centre-forward, but Arsenal are not really a big man down the middle kind of team, they have options with Jesus, Nketiah, Trossard and Havertz.

“With the fluidity Arsenal play with, from out to in with the strikers going wide and the wingers going central, they’re not crying out for a number nine. 

“Having said that, of course they are always going to be expected to score goals, maybe 10-15 games into the season we may be calling for a striker but last season when Jesus got injured, Nketiah came in and did well.”

Dixon believes the squad depth the club have added will be key after it was something they arguably lacked last season.

He added: “You need two players for every position now, there’s no doubt if you’re going to be able to sustain a full season in the Premier League.

His [Arteta’s] starting lineup will probably be White, Gabriel, Saliba and Zinchenko like last season.

But there’ll be many times where one or two of those players can be replaced and it won’t change the way they play that much.

“It’s a good thing if you can switch a couple of players and don’t notice, that’s a dream for a manager.”
