Dutchman has transfer message for United over possible deal, Solskjaer will bring success back, Barca to sell £50 million Man United target

Here is a roundup of the latest Manchester United news from icfootballnews.com

Fresh reports have claimed Barcelona are willing to sell Manchester United target Samuel Umtiti this month.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to spend some serious money during the summer transfer window, there was some speculation in the media that the United boss was seeking to add some world class defenders to his squad, with Umtiti high up on the shopping list.

A knee injury, which required surgery, saw the Frenchman lose his starting place to countryman Clement Lenglet last season, and reports suggested Barcelona were willing to allow him to depart the club for the right amount of money

And reports even suggested that Solskjaer was willing to spend around £50 million to try and secure a deal for the Barcelona defender, but instead opted to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester on a record-breaking deal.

But now Spanish publication El Desmarque are reporting that Barca want a deal done as soon as possible as they seek to get the defender off their books this transfer window, as they seek to fresh un their squad.

The 26-year-old has been largely out of first team action for Barca this season, starting just four La Liga games due to injury and the the fact that Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet have established a regular partnership at centre-back.

Solskjaer will surely get the backing of the board in the January window to go out and try to acquire the type of players that will come in and make an immediate impact on the side, players like Umtiti.

Manchester United are guaranteed to get better with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the helm, according to his former Old Trafford teammate Darren Fletcher.

Since Solskjaer took over at Old Trafford last season, there has been a lot of criticism about the way that he has failed to get the side clicking and challenging for more than a top six side.

It has led to a lot of transfer speculation in the media that United may decide to get rid of the club legend and bring in a more experienced, world class manager that is able to get the very best out of this young United side.

The Norwegian is once again under pressure in the United dugout after his side put in a shocking performance to go down 3-1 to local rivals Man City in the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Tuesday evening, with Solskjaer himself saying the first-half showing was ‘the worst we have played this season.

But UNITED current misery will be looked back on with fondness when Solskjaer has successfully guided the Red Devils back to the pinnacle of English football, Fletcher insists.

“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could have been selfish and could have got players in for a quick fix,” Fletcher told talkSPORT’s Sports Bar, “but he wants to do the best for Manchester United long-term – and he’s doing it the hard way.

“He has to be respected for that.

“It’s probably going to take a little bit of pain – it’s probably going to take a lot of pain – but I believe that if we stick with the process we will look back on this period and think, ‘yes, we took that pain, but look where we are now because of those decisions’.”

Ajax star Donny Van Der Beek has opened up about a possible move to Manchester United during the January window.

The midfielder was part of Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals and scored the decisive goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the Dutch side took a 1-0 lead against Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the first leg, and was a star performer in the second leg loss to the London club.

He has become one of the most coveted players in Europe after helping Ajax win the League, the Dutch Cup as well as Champions League success and there has been a lot of transfer speculation that some of Europes biggest clubs could make a move.

UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has become a fan of the exciting Dutchman after seeing him impressive performances, and with the Red Devils boss keen to improve his midfield this window, he is ready to battle the likes of Napoli, Barcelona and Real Madrid for De Beeks signature.

But amid all the speculation surrounding his future, Van De Beek has opened up on the possibility of leaving Ajax this coming winter window and admitted that he has no intention of leaving the Dutch giants half way through the season.

Speaking to Voetbal International, the £50million-rated man said: “I don’t want to leave during the winter break.

“I play here all season, I finish at Ajax this year. That gives me clarity and tranquillity. I will see what happens next.

“Maybe someday in my career it will happen that I switch clubs during the winter break, but now I don’t like it.
