It has been claimed that Eddie Howe wants the Newcastle board to bring a ball-playing midfielder to the club in the summer.

After a stunning season last year – Newcastle have been plagued by injuries and poor performances this time around and there are many rumours flying around in the media.

It as been claimed that the board are not happy with Howe, they may replace him in the summer, there have been speculation that a number of big players could be sold in order to help balance the books, and many more rumours to go along with that.

However – Howe is still the boss of Newcastle for now and is reportedly already planning for next season – as according to TEAMtalk, one of the names high up on the Englishman’s wishlist is Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Billy Gilmour

Gimour is one of the most exciting talents to ever come out of that Chelsea academy and was tipped to become a real star for the Blues, but he was never given the chance to shine at Stamford Bridge.

His move to Brighton has worked out really well for the lad and he has developed into a real quality Premier League star – with his performances one of the reasons why Brighton are soo good to watch on a weekly basis.

Gilmour is a real special player that has the ability to keep the ball moving – something that Newcastle have struggled with this season and adding him to the side could be a very good move.

However – the club want to be among the elite of the Premier League – they want to make statement signings – and to be honest – Gilmour is a player that would struggle to get into the side once one or two big names make the move to the Toon.
