Leicester open door for Arsenal to seal deal, Combative midfielder makes transfer admission, Midfielder admits he wants Arsenal agreement reached and Madrid make Odegaard decision
Arsenal get Edouard boost, Locatelli transfer admission, Torriera wants deal done, Madrid make Odegaard decision in Arsenal roundup…
Leicester have cooled their interest in Odsonne Edouard, with Arsenal now in pole position to sign the Celtic striker during the summer window.
Regarded very highly across Europe, Edouard has been linked with a move to the Premier League over the past few seasons as many believe that he is now ready to test himself in the very best League in world football.
The Foxes have held a long-standing interest in the Frenchman but are ready to change their transfer strategy following the revival in form of Kelechi Iheanacho, who has 11 goals in his last 11 appearances.
That leaves the path clear for Arsenal to move for the 23-year-old, who could be available for as little as £8 million ($11m) as he edges closer to entering the final 12 months of his contract, reports Football Insider.
Despite having some world class striker at the club already, there are many doubts that Alexandre Lacazette will stay at the club at the end of the season, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has simply lost that goal-scoring touch after signing that big contract.
And adding a fresh, hungry young striker like Edouard to the attack, would give Arteta more of a goal-threat up top, as his side have not scored the amount of goals that the fans would have liked to see this season.
Would fans welcome Edouard to the club? or are you guys hoping that Arteta gets the funds to go out and try to sign a more world class attacker that will send a statement to the rest of the Premier League?
Lucas Torreira has claimed that he believes that Boca Juniors and Arsenal ‘should reach an agreement’ over a loan deal.
Torreira has failed to settle in North London, before struggling to make his move to Spain work either, and there has been much talk in the media that the Gunners will be looking to get him off the books all-together in the transfer window
Both he and Boca are believed to be keen on teaming up together, and the player has made no secret of his desire to make that happen, as respected Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now revealed a conversation between ESPN host Federico Bulos where the player claimed he believed a one-year deal could be reached between the two clubs.
Lucas Torreira to @federicobulos: “I want to go to Boca Juniors now. I am 25 years old and I know it’s a club that plays for great targets. I’d like to make the fans happy… but I know it’s not easy. Boca should reach an agreement with Arsenal for a one-year loan”. 🔴 #AFC #Boca

Look, Torreira was a player that should have been a superstar at Arsenal, but that was never the case and if he wants to leave the club at the end of the season, the Gunners should let him go.
There is no point in keeping a player on the books if they have no desire to be an Arsenal player. And if they can get a bit of money for the player, TAKE IT!!! and use those funds to bring in some more quality.
Mikel Arteta has a decent squad, but it is not good enough to compete for that Premier League title.
Reports have claimed Real Madrid have made a decision about whether or not they will allow Martin Odegaard to join Arsenal on a permanent basis.
The 22-year-old has shown his quality in loan spells at Vitesse and Real Sociedad, with his composure and creativity winning many fans, and those performances led to Real Madrid keeping hold of him at the start of the season.
However, Odegaard was unable to get a decent run in the squad under Zinedine Zidane, and when the January transfer came around, the talented midfielder told the club that he wanted to leave on-loan until at least the end of the season.
Odegaard has made a promising start to life in north London – so much so that Arteta said he has the potential to become one of the best players in the world – and the Gunners coach is hopeful of being able to persuade the player to remain at Arsenal
However, Marca is reporting that it will not happen because Madrid sees him as a major part of their future, and The report says the Spaniards are delighted with how his loan spell in London is going, as he is now getting the game time that he wants.
This will not be the best of news for Arsenal, who had plans to keep him beyond this campaign, especially after Arteta hinted that he was seeking to get a deal done
“We have Martin for a few months from Real Madrid and first of all we have to maximise this time with him to try to bring to the team all the qualities he has,” Arteta said on Sky Sports
“At the end of the season we will sit together and decide where we can take that relationship forward. At the moment it doesn’t just depend on us.”
Sassuolo star Manuel Locatelli has had a transfer to Arsenal mooted, and the 23-year-old admits that a move away from his native Italy is “an option” for him to explore in upcoming windows.
His combative qualities in a holding role and ability to push on into the final third when required have led to admiring glances being shot in his direction from across Europe, including Chelsea.
Despite the fine job that Mikel Arteta has done as boss of the Gunners, he is still expected to delve into that transfer kitty of his in the summer and try to add a few players to the squad that will give his squad something different.
Now amid all the speculation surrounding his future, Locatelli has admitted that leaving Italy is an option, Quizzed on his future by Corriere dello Sport, Locatelli said: “I don’t know if this will be my last year here or what the future holds for me. When, and if, there are opportunities, we will evaluate them all together.”
He added on the potential of seeking out a new challenge outside of Serie A: “Playing abroad is an option for me and at the moment I’m not excluding anything. It’s part of my job and it means that I have raised my level.
“Certain certificates of esteem and interest from big clubs increase my motivations and make me understand I’m on the right track.”
The lad is very talented and definitely one for the future, but we firmly believe that a move to the Premier League is not the right one to make and he needs a few more years of development to be really ready for a move to a club like Arsenal .
