Celtic told to sell Man United target Edouard, Schmeichel would jump at United move, Defender officially signs up and striker ready for Premier League move
Celtic told to sell Edouard, Schmeichel claim made, Williams signs up and Edouard ready for Premier League move in Manchester United roundup…
Former Celtic manager John Barnes believes Odsonne Edouard has outgrown his time in Scotland and is ready for a Premier League move, with Manchester United keen on a deal.
There is a feeling that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add a new striker to the attack after failing to replace Romelu Lukaku last summer and during the January window, and has been eyeing up possible targets.
And that means that United will be keeping a close eye on Edouard, a player that is valued at just £40 million, but tipped to be a big-time striker in Europe over the next few seasons.
The Frenchman scored a hat-trick on the opening day of the season in the 5-1 win over Hamilton and there has been big talk that the Red Devils are ready to swoop in and offer him a move to Old Trafford, with the likes of Leicester and Arsenak also linked.
Now, amid all the speculation, Barnes has opened up and claimed that Edouard has outgrown the Scottish League and is now ready to make the move to the Premier League, which will hand the Arsenal a massive boost.
Speaking to Bonuscodebets, Barnes said: “Ever since Kenny Dalglish came in the 1970s, this has very much been the situation. It’s unfortunate for the Scottish clubs, but it’s very much the nature of the game.
“Odsonne Edouard is someone that I think we may see in the English Premier League this coming season; simply because he’s a great player.
“It obviously helps that he scored a hat-trick in the first game of the season, but he’s shown a great consistency over the last couple of years and he also got back from lockdown stronger than ever.
“He’s a grafter and hardworking and the bigger Premier League clubs will have eyed him up. You look at Morelos, who may be moving on from Rangers, Van Dijk came from Scotland, great players playing in Scotland tend to leave.”
Kasper Schmeichel would jump at the chance to play for Manchester United, according to a former Man City teammate.
The Leicester City goalkeeper has been linked with the Red Devils, who have their own dilemma in that position, as David de Gea’s performances have come under scrutiny over the past few months.
The Spaniard has made some costly mistakes that almost cost Manchester United the chance of Champions League football next season, but did cost them a place in the FA Cup final just a few weeks ago.
And amid all the speculation, Mikkel Bischoff, who spent four years with City between 2002 and 2006, says it would be a dream come true for Schmeichel to be United’s No.1, and he would jump at the chance to follow in his fathers footsteps.
He told Ekstra Bladet: “United will certainly not be deterred by his age of 33 years.
“The most successful goalkeepers at the club in recent years have been well into their thirties. He can easily play three or four good years there.
“Schmeichel is a huge United fan. He always has been and always will be, it will be the biggest dream come true if he were to succeed [in joining United].
“If Kasper gets the opportunity to play just ten games for United, then he jumps. It’s simply so big for him. He is such a big fan that he will do anything to get to that club.”
Former Celtic striker Harald Brattbakk believes the Hoops should cash in on Manchester United target Odsonne Edouard if they receive a £40million bid.
United and Leicester have been linked with a summer move for the French striker, who scored a hat-trick in Celtic’s 5-1 Scottish Premiership opening-day win over Hamilton on Sunday.
It is no secret that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a man that needs to add a striker to the attack this summer, and with Manchester United not going to spend alot of money, Edouard has been on the shopping list
Now they have been handed a transfer boost as Brattbakk, who played for Celtic between 1997 and 2000, insists a £40m offer for the 22-year-old would be too good to turn down amid the coronavirus pandemic.
He told the Mail: “I think it would be really tough to say no to a bid of that amount. It’s so much money.
“Financially, Celtic is still doing well. But any club would appreciate £40m right now.
“Also, if you sell him for that kind of money, you could buy one or two new players for maybe £10m and you’d still be left with £30m.
“This is always the discussion that you have. The club will always think about ten-in-a-row but also about how best to run it.
“If you ask the supporters, of course, they’d all give Edouard a better contract to stay on.
“But it’s not that easy. The board of directors have to think about both things which makes it difficult.”
Brandon Williams has signed a new contract at Manchester United after a stellar debut season under the guidance on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Williams, who joined United at the age of seven, is one of 12 Academy graduates who have featured for the club in the Premier League this season as Solskjaer was keen to hand the talents at the club a chance to earn a spot in his squad.
And The England Under-20 international made 33 appearances for the first team as he made an impression on the side, something which has now earned him a nice new contract at Old Trafford, which he is delighted with.
He told the club website: “Signing this contract is another really proud moment for myself and my family. Having been at Manchester United since I was seven years old, it’s genuinely a dream come true to be playing in the first team.
“It has taken a huge amount of hard work to reach this point and it has been really special for me to break through into the squad. I’ve learned a lot throughout the season from the manager, his coaching staff and my team-mates and I want to repay the trust that they have all shown in me.
“I know that everyone at the club is working really hard every day to achieve success in the coming years and I am really excited to be a part of that.”
Manchester United are famous for having the best players, but also producing some fine talents and Williams looked like a player that did not look out of place in this United side.
This is a deal that the lad has earned and many fans will surely be happy to see that he has signed a new contract.
