Arteta and Edu ‘Delighted’ with latest World class Arsenal sign up!
Mikel Arteta and Edu have both revealed their delight after Jorginho decided to agree a new contract with the club.
The Italy midfielder, 32, joined from Chelsea for £12m in January 2023 on an 18-month deal which was about to run out at the end of the season and there was alot of speculation that he will be leaving the club.
However – after months of speculation and rumours – it was announced today that Jorginho will be staying at the Emirates next season after agreeing to extend his current contract.
Sporting Director Edu said: “We’re very happy to have Jorgi sign a contract extension with us. He represents what we stand for here at Arsenal with his professionalism and success.
“I know everyone at the club will be very excited that Jorgi will continue to be with us, not only the players and coaches, but all the staff behind the scenes as well. It’s great that Jorginho remains with us, as we continue building to be better and stronger.”
Manager Mikel Arteta added: “We’re delighted that Jorgi has signed a new contract with us. Jorgi is such an important part of our team, a role model with great leadership skills and a unique playing style ability which makes everybody better around him on the pitch.
“We’re very pleased that Jorgi and his family have committed with us and we’re all excited to continue this journey together.”

Look, at the end of the day it would have been a massive mistake from ARSENAL to let Jorginho leave the club – this was a very good decision which means that a world class midfielder will stay be a Gooner in the summer.
Jorginho may not be first choice anymore – especially if a new midfielder is signed – but he is still a player that offers alot.
