Arsenal Sporting Director Edu reveals why very late transfer deal happened for big man!

Sporting Director Edu has revealed why the decision was made by Arsenal to allow Aaron Ramsdale to leave the club on deadline day and make the switch to Southampton for a fee of £25 million.

Going into the summer window Ramsdale knew that he was no longer wanted at ARSENAL – he was not longer needed and was just waiting for the right club to make the right offer in order to get a deal done.

But he had to wait until deadline day to get the move that he desired as Southampton came calling with an opportunity that he could not turn down and he quickly made the decision to leave the Gunners for the Saints.

And after making that move – Edu opened up and said: “We are pleased to have reached a very positive transfer completion with Southampton and Aaron leaves us with our best wishes. We thank Aaron for his performances for the club since joining us three years ago, and we wish him and his family well in their new chapter.”

Manager Mikel Arteta added: “Aaron has been a top professional since joining in 2021 and has made many contributions during his time with us. We thank Aaron for everything he gave to Arsenal and we wish him and his family the best of health, success and happiness in his new opportunity with Southampton.”

Ramsdale is a top stopper that will perform brilliantly for the Saints – it is a very good move for the star to make and one that he will enjoy – ARSENAL fans will wish him all the best for his services, he done nothing wrong for the club during his stay.

But he just was not the type of stopper that Arteta wanted in his side – it is as simple as that.
