Great news for Ozil fans after boss Unai Emery sends Arsenal message to unimpressive German

Mesut Ozil could still have future at the Arsenal?

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has admitted that he has been impressed with Mesut Ozil this season, despite speculation he could leave the club.

It was no secret that Ozil was almost out-of-contract before Arsenal gave in and offered him a massive £350,000-a-week deal, especially as they literally just let Alexis Sanchez leave for Manchester United and did not want to lose another big named player.

There has been some suggestion in the media that Unai Emery does not like the style of play of the German, and does not want him in his squad any longer, that is why the former Real Madrid ace has made just one appearance in the Premier League this season, which came in the 2-2 draw with Watford.

And that has led to a lot of transfer speculation in the media that he could be leaving the club and heading to either the Turkish League or Chinese League, as there is a lot of interest in the German despite his poor performances under Emery. But despite their differences, Emery singled Ozil out for praise ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Sheffield United on Monday evening.

‘I am speaking every day with Raul [Sanllehi], Edu and with the players,’ the Spaniard said. Our work is more important than our words and really now I am very happy at the club. I am really happy with the players. The last two, three, four weeks, every player – and Mesut Ozil – is working very well.

‘This is why we can be positive and we can think we are going to do something important this year. ‘I was speaking with Raul and this is the same idea when he is speaking with me.’

Ozil has recently come out and admitted that he will not be leaving the club anytime soon and plans to stay at the club until 2021, he told the Sky Sports website: “When I signed the new deal, I thought about it very carefully and said it was one of the most important decisions of my footballing career. I didn’t want to stay for just one or two more years, I wanted to commit my future to Arsenal and the club wanted me to do the same.

“You can go through difficult times, like this, but that is no reason to run away and I’m not going to. I’m here until at least 2021.”

Technically Ozil is brilliant and on his day he is a creative force, so if Emery is prepared to give him a chance in an Arsenal shirt, surely it would be worthwhile keeping the German?

Ozil needs match time in the premier,if you want the best from him he has to get a run in the team,
A game or appearance now and again or 20 mins here and there is a waste of untapped talent.

Honestly, I think it’s just a matter of when not if for Ozil. I think no one wants him and while he is still on the roster, the team has to say all the right things to keep him motivated and have him feeling quasi wanted. As they say in sports he is only one Injury away from cracking the starting lineup. For the sake of everyone, I think its best he moves on and Arsenal could use his salary off the books as it sure is hamstringing them in anything they do.
