Gunners boss Emery ready to splash £30 million and sign French world cup winner N’Zonzi for Arsenal

Fresh reports have again claimed that Arsenal boss Unai Emery is seeking a reunion with Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.

The Spaniard arrived at the club with big ambitions but a small transfer kitty to work with, as the Gunners hierarchy di not want to go into the summer window and spend hundreds of millions of pounds on new faces.

As such, Emery has only managed to spend £80 million on new players, with the impressive Matteo Guendouzi, Bernd Leno and Lucas Torreira just a few names that have arrived.

But reports suggested he was keen to add one more midfielder to his squad this coming summer, and N’Zonzi has become his top transfer target as he could be available as the Frenchman would be open to the idea with working with the Spanish boss in the Premier League.

And according to the Daily Star website, Emery wants to re-sign the Roma midfielder, although the Gunners face competition for his signature from Monaco.

However, the French World Cup winner enjoyed the most successful spell of his club career under Emery at Sevilla, winning the Europa League in 2016 and would be open to the idea of linking up with Emery, especially at one of this countries biggest and most successful clubs.

Emery knows he will not be given a whole load of funds in the coming transfer window and will be lucky to get more than the £70 million that is being talks about, but his midfielder is already packed and signing N’Zonzi would just be a waste of money that they could spend of sorting out the defence.

The back-line is an issue at the Emirates and Emery needs to spend big in order to get that sorted out, so rather than wasting £30 million on signing a player that would not improve the squad that much, he should line-up one or two new centre-backs.

There will be a lot of speculation in the media about whom the Gunners will buy, and fans will once again become frustrated at the lack of activity, but one thing is almost for certain, N’Zonzi is a player that many fans would not like to see arrive, despite his relatively impressive season with the Side.

So save you money Emery, buy players that will make a difference to the side.
